Dhurandhar Box Office Day 51: Ranveer Singh Film Hits Lowest Collection Amid Border 2 Release
Dhurandhar Day 51: Lowest Collection Amid Border 2 Release

Dhurandhar Faces Steep Decline in Week 8 as Border 2 Dominates Box Office

After a remarkable 50-day theatrical run, the Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna-starrer Dhurandhar has entered its eighth week with a significant downturn in box office performance. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film recorded its lowest single-day collection so far, earning an estimated ₹55 lakh on Friday. This sharp decline coincides directly with the strong opening of the much-anticipated war drama Border 2, which appears to have diverted audience attention from the long-running hit.

Historic Low Marks a Clear Slowdown

Until this point, Dhurandhar had impressively maintained daily collections above the ₹1 crore mark, demonstrating resilience against sustained competition from various releases. However, Day 50 signaled a clear slowdown, emerging as the film's weakest Friday performance since its initial release. The entry into week 8 has now solidified this downward trend, with the ₹55 lakh haul representing a new low point in the film's box office journey.

Week-wise Net Box Office Collections in India

  • Week 1: ₹207.25 crore
  • Week 2: ₹253.25 crore
  • Week 3: ₹172 crore
  • Week 4: ₹106.5 crore
  • Week 5: ₹51.25 crore
  • Week 6: ₹26.35 crore
  • Week 7: ₹13.9 crore

Total Box Office Performance and Milestones

With these latest collections, Dhurandhar's net domestic total now stands at approximately ₹831.5 crore, while its India gross is nearing the ₹997 crore mark. The film is approaching the significant ₹1,000 crore India gross milestone, though sustaining momentum will prove challenging given the fresh competition. Overseas, the film has earned an estimated ₹294 crore, bringing its worldwide collection to about ₹1,288.9 crore according to trade estimates. Notably, the makers have claimed a higher global gross of ₹1,328.23 crore, including around ₹1,038 crore from India.

Intensified Competition from Border 2

Released on 5 December, Dhurandhar has navigated competition from multiple titles over the past seven weeks, including Avatar: Fire and Ash, Ikkis, and The Raja Saab. However, the arrival of Border 2 has had the most visible impact to date. While Dhurandhar managed ₹55 lakh on Friday, Border 2 reportedly opened with an impressive ₹30 crore, surpassing Dhurandhar's own Day 1 collection of ₹28 crore. This stark contrast underscores the shifting audience preferences as newer, high-profile releases enter the market.

Position Among Hindi Film Rankings

Despite the current slowdown, Dhurandhar remains firmly positioned among the top 10 highest-grossing Hindi films, currently tied with Gadar 2. However, it still trails significantly behind the all-time benchmark set by Stree 2, which leads the chart with approximately ₹4.55 billion in net collections. The film's extended run demonstrates its initial popularity, but the latest figures highlight the challenges of maintaining box office dominance over time.

Looking ahead, Dhurandhar 2 is scheduled to hit theatres on March 19, potentially reviving interest in the franchise. Industry observers will be watching closely to see if the sequel can replicate or surpass the original's success amidst an increasingly competitive cinematic landscape.
