The monumental box office run of Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar has finally hit its slowest point. On its sixth Friday in theatres, which was its 36th day overall, the Aditya Dhar directorial registered its lowest single-day earnings since release, as per industry trackers.
Day 36 Collections and Domestic Milestone
Data from industry tracker Sacnilk indicates that Dhurandhar minted approximately Rs 3.5 crore on January 9, 2026. This figure marks the film's poorest daily performance to date. Despite this dip, the film's cumulative net collection in the Indian market is now tantalizingly close to a major landmark, standing at an estimated Rs 793 crore.
The production house, Jio Studios, has reported a higher global gross figure. According to the makers, the film has already garnered a staggering Rs 840.85 crore, cementing its position as the highest-grossing Hindi film ever in India. However, on the worldwide stage, it still trails behind the colossal earnings of Sukumar's Pushpa 2, which has amassed Rs 1742 crore against Dhurandhar's Rs 1238 crore.
Occupancy Rates and Screen Count
The dip in collections is reflected in the theatre occupancy rates. For Day 36, the overall occupancy averaged 15.25%. The breakdown shows a slow start with morning shows at 7.97%, picking up to 16.7% in the afternoon. Evening and night shows performed better with 17.41% and 18.93% occupancy, respectively.
It is noteworthy that despite the declining footfall, Dhurandhar is still being screened on over 2900 screens across the country. The film managed to add around Rs 51 crore to its total in the preceding week, even with falling occupancies.
New Competition from The Raja Saab
The film's path to crossing the Rs 800 crore domestic net mark now faces a fresh hurdle with the arrival of a major new release. Prabhas's The Raja Saab hit theatres on January 9, and its opening day collection reportedly doubled what Dhurandhar earned on the same day.
With a strong opening of Rs 54 crore, The Raja Saab poses significant competition and is expected to claim a large share of screens and audience attention. This development follows the earlier challenge posed by Sriram Raghavan's Ikkis, which had begun to slightly impact Dhurandhar's numbers.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar features an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, and R Madhavan. The industry will be watching closely to see if the film can leverage the weekend to push past the Rs 800 crore milestone amidst the intensified box office battle.
