The Aditya Dhar-directed action thriller Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, is not just running but sprinting at the box office, shattering records with every passing day. On its sixteenth day in theatres, which was Saturday, December 21, the film achieved two monumental milestones, cementing its place as a blockbuster for the ages.
Record-Breaking Milestones Achieved
According to data from the industry tracker Sacnilk, Dhurandhar's net collection in India soared to an impressive ₹516.50 crore by the end of its sixteenth day. This phenomenal performance allowed it to smash through the ₹500 crore barrier, making it the second-fastest Hindi film to reach this mark, trailing only behind the colossal Pushpa 2.
In doing so, it officially dethroned Ranbir Kapoor's 2023 hit Animal (lifetime collection: ₹502.98 crore) to claim the sixth position on the elite All-Time Top 10 Highest-Grossing Bollywood Films list for Hindi net collections. This makes it the sixth-highest earning original Hindi film in history, a staggering feat for a film that released on December 5.
The Path to the Top Five and Spectacular Day 16 Jump
The film's next target is clearly in sight. With Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan sitting at the fifth spot with ₹524.53 crore, trade analysts predict that Dhurandhar will likely overtake it by Sunday evening, given its current momentum. The film's performance on Saturday, Day 16, was particularly explosive. It witnessed a massive 48.89% spike in earnings, adding ₹33.5 crore to its total. Early estimates for Sunday also show strong advance bookings, indicating the wave is far from over.
The current All-Time Top 10 Bollywood Films (Hindi Net) list now stands as follows:
- Stree 2 (2024): ₹597.99 crore
- Chhaava (2025): ₹585.7 crore
- Jawan (2023): ₹582.31 crore
- Gadar 2 (2023): ₹525.70 crore

- Animal (2023): ₹502.98 crore

Global Dominance and the ₹1000 Crore Dream
Dhurandhar's success is not confined to the domestic market. The film is having a dream run globally, having already grossed a colossal ₹780 crore worldwide in just 16 days. Its India gross stands at approximately ₹620 crore, while the overseas contribution is a solid ₹160 crore. This global dominance has set the stage for an even bigger achievement.
Industry experts are now confidently predicting that with the long Christmas and New Year holiday period ahead, Dhurandhar is on a firm path to breach the coveted ₹1000 crore worldwide milestone. Film trade analyst Sumit Kadel highlighted the film's franchise potential in a post on X, stating, "Dhurandhar is on course to become the MOST SUCCESSFUL franchise in Indian cinema, with both parts eyeing ₹1,000 Cr+ worldwide- ₹2,000 Cr+ combined."
About the Film
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar is a high-octane action thriller that weaves its narrative around real-life historical incidents, including the IC 814 hijacking of 1999 and the 2001 Parliament attack. Alongside Ranveer Singh, the film boasts a powerful ensemble cast featuring Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal, with pivotal roles played by Sara Arjun, Naveen Kaushik, Rakesh Bedi, and Danish Pandor. Produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the film has a runtime of 3 hours and 32 minutes.
Despite facing competition from Hollywood giant Avatar during its release window, Dhurandhar has demonstrated exceptional holding power. If the current trend continues through the festive season, it may well challenge to become the highest-grossing original Hindi film of all time, a crown currently held by Stree 2.
