The romantic comedy sequel De De Pyaar De 2, starring Ajay Devgn and R. Madhavan, has completed a five-day run in cinemas, amassing a total collection of Rs 44 crore. The film, which hit theatres on Friday, November 14, 2025, showed signs of recovery on its fifth day after a significant dip earlier in the week.
Daily Earnings and Occupancy Details
According to data from industry tracker Sacnilk, De De Pyaar De 2 earned an estimated Rs 5 crore on its fifth day in theatres. This represents a positive jump of almost 18 percent from its Day 4 earnings. The film's performance on Tuesday, November 18, revealed an overall Hindi occupancy rate of 16.53 percent.
The day began on a slow note with morning shows recording only 7.96 percent occupancy. The numbers saw an improvement in the afternoon, rising to 12.8 percent. Evening shows held steady at approximately 16.45 percent, before the film witnessed its strongest performance during night shows, which saw occupancy surge to 28.91 percent.
Region-wise, the film performed best in major metropolitan areas. In Delhi-NCR, which hosted the highest number of shows at 1,392, the occupancy rate was 19.5 percent. Mumbai, with 830 shows, reported a slightly higher occupancy of 20.5 percent.
Comparison with Other Ajay Devgn Films
When placed alongside Ajay Devgn's other recent releases, the Rs 44 crore five-day collection of De De Pyaar De 2 appears underwhelming. His earlier 2025 release, the action thriller Raid 2, had collected a robust Rs 78.75 crore in the same timeframe. The blockbuster sequel Drishyam 2 had set an even higher benchmark with Rs 86.49 crore in its first five days.
Even the supernatural thriller Shaitaan, which also starred R. Madhavan, performed markedly better, earning Rs 67.75 crore in its initial five-day run. The gap is most pronounced when compared to Devgn's biggest recent sequel, Singham Again. Released around the same time last year, the action extravaganza amassed a massive Rs 153.75 crore in its first five days.
However, the film has managed to outperform some of the actor's other recent titles. It has fared better than Son of Sardaar 2, which collected Rs 29.85 crore in five days, and the sports drama Maidaan, which managed Rs 23.5 crore.
Performance Against Predecessor and 2025 Releases
The sequel is also trailing behind its own predecessor. The original De De Pyaar De, released in 2019, had garnered Rs 50 crore in its first five days, putting the current sequel about Rs 6 crore behind the original's pace.
The film's standing becomes clearer when compared to other major Hindi releases of 2025. Akshay Kumar's Sky Force grossed Rs 75 crore in its five-day run, while the Diwali release Thamma earned Rs 78.7 crore.
On a more positive note, De De Pyaar De 2 has performed better than several other films this year. It has surpassed the collections of the time-travel romantic comedy Bhool Chuk Maaf, which earned Rs 37.25 crore in five days, and the historical courtroom drama Kesari Chapter 2, which collected Rs 39 crore.
The road ahead for De De Pyaar De 2 is paved with challenges. The cinematic landscape is set to become more crowded with the impending release of several big films, including 120 Bahadur, Mastii 4, Tere Ishq Mein, and Dhurandhar. It remains to be seen whether the Ajay Devgn-starrer can maintain its foothold and find sustained audience engagement amidst this intensifying competition.
