Border 2 Box Office Day 8: Sunny Deol's Film Falls Short of Top 10 All-Time Opening Week
Border 2 Misses Top 10 Opening Week Despite Strong Hold

Border 2, the multi-starrer war drama featuring Sunny Deol, has demonstrated a steady performance at the box office, yet it narrowly missed securing a place in the Top 10 all-time highest opening week collections for Hindi or Bollywood films. The movie, which is currently competing with Rani Mukerji's Mardaani 3, has shown resilience despite a gradual decline in daily earnings after a blockbuster start.

Day 8 Collection Details

On Friday, January 30, Border 2 earned only ₹11 crore, according to data from industry tracker Sacnilk. This figure represents a slight decrease of 2.22% compared to the previous day's collection of ₹11.25 crore on Thursday. With this addition, the cumulative total for the film over eight days now stands at an impressive ₹235.25 crore. Despite facing stiff competition from newer releases, industry experts anticipate that the numbers may see an uptick over the upcoming weekend, as moviegoers often flock to theaters during Saturdays and Sundays.

Week 1 Performance Analysis

The first week of a film's release serves as a critical indicator of its long-term viability and audience appeal. Border 2 kicked off its theatrical run with a robust opening day collection of ₹30 crore net. The momentum continued to build over the weekend, with Saturday seeing a healthy rise to ₹36.5 crore net, followed by a remarkable surge of nearly 50% on Sunday, culminating in ₹54.5 crore net.

A significant highlight occurred on Monday, which coincided with the Republic Day national holiday. Instead of experiencing the typical weekday slump, the film achieved a record-breaking ₹59 crore net, marking the highest first-Monday collection ever recorded for a Hindi film. However, as expected, the collections corrected sharply thereafter. On Tuesday, earnings plummeted by 66.1% to ₹20 crore net, and the decline persisted into Wednesday with a further 35% drop to ₹13 crore net. Thursday witnessed another decrease of 13.46%, bringing in ₹11.25 crore net. Consequently, the total net collection for the first seven days amounted to ₹224.25 crore.

Missing the Top 10 All-Time Opening Week List

In the recently updated rankings of all-time highest opening week collections for Hindi or Bollywood movies, several releases from 2025 and 2026 have made their mark. Border 2 has secured the 11th position, falling short of the Top 10 by a margin of less than ₹5 crore. The tenth spot is currently held by Hrithik Roshan's War. Notably, Border 2 has displaced other films such as Chhaava and Dhurandhar, pushing them down to the 12th and 13th positions, respectively.

At the pinnacle of the list remains Pushpa 2: The Rule, with an astounding opening week collection of ₹425.6 crore. This film, along with Pathaan and Jawan, are the only three to have surpassed the ₹340 crore milestone in their inaugural week, underscoring the competitive landscape of the Bollywood box office.
