Border 2 Box Office Collection Day 8: Sunny Deol's Film Achieves Major Milestone

Sunny Deol's highly anticipated war drama Border 2 has firmly established itself as a blockbuster success, achieving a significant box office milestone on its eighth day of release. The film has now crossed the impressive Rs 300 crore mark in worldwide collections, cementing its position as one of the major hits of the year.

Domestic Performance and Day 8 Dip

According to data from Sacnilk, Border 2 has earned over Rs 235.25 crore in the Indian market alone. However, after a robust first week that included the Republic Day weekend boost, the film experienced a noticeable slowdown on Day 8. The collection for Friday stood at approximately Rs 11 crore, indicating a decline from its earlier momentum.

The overall theatre occupancy for Border 2 on Day 8 was recorded at 15.05 per cent. Breaking this down by show timings:

  • Morning shows: 6.58 per cent occupancy
  • Afternoon shows: 13.24 per cent occupancy
  • Evening shows: 16.71 per cent occupancy
  • Night shows: 23.65 per cent occupancy

Regional Box Office Analysis

In key metropolitan regions, the film's performance showed variation. The Mumbai region saw Border 2 playing across 851 shows with an occupancy rate of 21 per cent. Meanwhile, in the Delhi National Capital Region (NCR), the film was screened in 1,270 shows but recorded a slightly lower occupancy of 14.67 per cent.

Notably, industry reports indicate that the number of screens allocated to Border 2 in these crucial regions saw a decline compared to the previous day, which may have contributed to the reduced collections.

Competition from New Releases

The release of Rani Mukerji's Mardaani 3 on January 30 introduced fresh competition in the market. The action thriller earned Rs 3.8 crore on its opening day. However, early indications suggest that this new entrant is not posing a significant threat to Border 2's box office dominance at this stage.

Film Details and Cast

Border 2 features an ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, and Medha Rana. The patriotic war drama serves as a sequel to J.P. Dutta's iconic 1997 blockbuster Border and is directed by Anurag Singh. The production is helmed by Dutta's daughter Nidhi Dutta alongside Bhushan Kumar.

As the film continues its theatrical run, industry observers are watching closely to see if it can maintain its momentum and potentially reach even greater heights in the coming weeks.
