Box Office Shock: Farhan's '120 Bahadur' Beats 'Masti 4' in Opening Weekend
120 Bahadur Outperforms Masti 4 at Box Office

Unexpected Box Office Results for New Releases

In a surprising turn of events at the Indian box office, two films released together on Friday, November 21 have produced unexpected results. While industry insiders predicted that the adult comedy 'Masti 4', starring Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh, and Aftab Shivdasani, would dominate, the opposite has occurred.

War Drama Takes the Lead

Contrary to expectations, it is Farhan Akhtar's war drama '120 Bahadur' that has gained a significant edge over the franchise comedy. The film, benefiting from positive word-of-mouth, managed to connect more strongly with the multiplex audience. However, both new releases are still trailing behind the steady performance of Ajay Devgn's 'De De Pyaar De', which continues to fare better than both.

Detailed Box Office Collections

The numbers tell a clear story. According to Sacnilk, 'Masti 4' opened with Rs 2.75 crore on its first day, Friday. The film maintained this exact figure on Saturday before seeing a slight growth to Rs 3 crore on Sunday. Unfortunately, the film experienced a sharp decline on Monday, its fourth day, collecting only Rs 1.50 crore. This brings its total collection to approximately Rs 10 crore.

This performance is particularly concerning for the adult comedy genre, which relies heavily on a strong opening-day momentum, as weekend growth is typically limited. At this current pace, 'Masti 4' is on track to fall short of the collections of its predecessor, 'Great Grand Masti' from 2016, which earned Rs 8.50 crore nett in its opening weekend.

Meanwhile, '120 Bahadur' demonstrated stronger legs. It performed better than 'Masti 4' over the crucial opening weekend and held almost steady on Monday, earning Rs 1.40 crore. The film's total collection has now reached an estimated Rs 11.50 crore, putting it ahead in this two-horse race.
