Vishwambhara Delay: VFX Issues Force Chiranjeevi Film Hold

Vishwambhara Delay Finally Addressed by Makers After Fan Concerns

The production team behind the highly anticipated Telugu fantasy film 'Vishwambhara' has officially broken their silence regarding the prolonged delay affecting the Chiranjeevi-starrer project. While the megastar recently enjoyed commercial success with the family entertainer 'Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu', his devoted fanbase has been eagerly awaiting concrete updates on Vishwambhara, a film that commenced production earlier but remains without a confirmed release date.

VFX-Heavy Design and Audience Feedback Cause Major Holdup

The primary reason for the delay stems from the film's VFX-intensive nature, with the creative team dedicating additional time to rework crucial scenes following negative audience reactions to the initial visual effects. At the recent trailer launch event for 'Couple Friendly', Ajay Kumar from UV Creations provided transparent insights into the production challenges.

According to Kumar, the early teaser failed to resonate with viewers, particularly regarding its computer-generated imagery. "You all saw the CG in the first teaser. The VFX part received a bad response from the audience. Because of its effect, the second teaser had solid VFX," he explained during the event. Kumar emphasized that the grand scale of Vishwambhara necessitates meticulous attention and extended timelines for CGI completion.

"Vishwambhara is a big film and hence it takes time for CGI. The official release date will be announced by Vamsi garu," he added. These updates were initially reported by regional media covering the event before gaining traction within trade circles and entertainment news platforms.

Massive Production Scale and Technical Demands

'Vishwambhara', which translates to 'The Universe', represents a significant Telugu-language fantasy action venture written and directed by Mallidi Vassishta under the banner of UV Creations. The film features an impressive ensemble cast including:

  • Chiranjeevi in the lead role
  • Trisha Krishnan as the female protagonist
  • Kunal Kapoor portraying the antagonist
  • Ashika Ranganath in a supporting role

The musical score is composed by the acclaimed M. M. Keeravani, adding another layer of anticipation for the project. Originally announced on August 22, 2023, under the working title 'Mega 156' to commemorate Chiranjeevi's 156th film, the project held its muhurat pooja ceremony in Hyderabad during October 2023.

The production involves extraordinary technical demands, with thirteen elaborate sets constructed at Annapurna Studios and approximately 70 percent of the film designed to incorporate visual effects that highlight spiritual and fantasy elements. Director Vassishta later revealed that the film contains nearly 5,000 VFX shots, a staggering number that has significantly contributed to the extended production timeline.

Extensive Filming Schedule and Quality Commitment

Principal photography has spanned multiple locations across India, including:

  1. Hyderabad
  2. Maredumilli
  3. Nalgonda
  4. Ramoji Film City
  5. Vellore

One particularly demanding action sequence reportedly required twenty-six consecutive days to complete, marking the longest stunt shooting schedule in Chiranjeevi's illustrious career. With dubbing sessions currently underway and musical tracks gradually being released, the production team has consistently reiterated their commitment to delivering quality over speed.

Despite these developments, the official release date remains undisclosed, keeping fans in suspense while the makers perfect the visual spectacle that defines this ambitious cinematic undertaking.
