Vikram Bhatt and Daughter Face Police Case Over Alleged Rs. 13.5 Crore Fraud

The Versova Police in Mumbai have registered a case against renowned filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and his daughter, Krishna Bhatt, following a complaint by a businessman who alleges they cheated him of Rs. 13.5 crore. The complainant claims the father-daughter duo promised lucrative returns from investments in films and other business ventures, which reportedly never materialized.

Economic Offences Wing Takes Over Investigation

According to reports from IANS, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has now taken charge of the probe into this alleged financial fraud. Authorities are meticulously examining the details of the case, which centers on accusations of taking money under false pretenses of high profitability. This development adds to the legal troubles mounting for the Bhatt family.

Previous Legal Issues in Udaipur and Mumbai

This is not the first time Vikram Bhatt has faced legal scrutiny. Previously, he and his wife, Shwetambari Bhatt, were placed in seven-day police custody by the ACJM court in Udaipur in connection with a separate Rs. 30 crore fraud case. The couple was arrested from their Mumbai residence on December 7 and transported to Udaipur, where they were presented before the court under the supervision of DSP Chhagan Singh Rajpurohit.

Upon arrival in Udaipur, Vikram and Shwetambari attempted to avoid media attention, but the case has drawn significant public interest. Vikram Bhatt remains in custody related to this Rs. 30 crore fraud allegation, highlighting a pattern of legal entanglements.

Arrest from Juhu Apartment and Resistance

The arrest in the Udaipur case followed an FIR filed by Dr. Ajay Murdia, founder of Indira Group and Indira IVF. A police team of six officers, led by DSP Rajpurohit, detained Vikram and Shwetambari from their Juhu flat in Mumbai. Initially, their security staff resisted the police, falsely claiming the couple was not at home, but they were eventually apprehended without further incident.

Alleged Biopic Investment Pitch

Dr. Ajay Murdia has provided detailed allegations regarding his interactions with Vikram Bhatt. He states that he was first approached by Dinesh Kataria and later met Bhatt at Vrindavan Studio in Mumbai. According to Dr. Murdia, the filmmaker and his team convinced him to invest in a proposed biopic based on his wife's life, promising that a ₹7 crore investment would finance four films and generate profits between Rs. 100 and Rs. 200 crore. These assurances, however, are now under investigation as part of the broader fraud allegations.

The case underscores the risks associated with high-stakes investments in the entertainment industry and raises questions about due diligence. As the EOW continues its probe, more details are expected to emerge regarding the extent of the alleged financial misconduct.
