Vicky Kaushal Calls Bhansali a 'Master', Reveals 'Love & War' Experience
Vicky Kaushal on Bhansali's 'Master' Direction in 'Love & War'

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next cinematic spectacle, 'Love & War', has become one of the most eagerly awaited films in India. This grand drama marks a historic first-time on-screen union of three powerhouse talents: Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal. Known for his opulent visual style and intricate narratives, Bhansali is celebrated for extracting career-best performances from his actors, and this project is already generating immense buzz.

Vicky Kaushal's Transformative First Collaboration

For Vicky Kaushal, working on 'Love & War' represents his inaugural project with the legendary director. In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India, Kaushal described the experience as profoundly educational. He openly admitted, "I'm getting to learn so much", highlighting the growth he is undergoing through this process.

Finding Calm in a Director's Vision

Kaushal elaborated on how Bhansali's absolute command over the story and its characters provides a unique sense of security for an actor. This clarity, he says, allows him to approach scenes with greater relaxation and confidence. "I just feel like I go in so much more relaxed. I don't feel the need to cement my thought process on the character so much," he explained.

However, the actor was quick to clarify that this creative freedom does not negate the necessity of thorough preparation. Coming to the set with a deep understanding of his character remains a non-negotiable priority for him. The magic, according to Kaushal, lies in the execution. "Of course, I know the character. But how to enter a scene, how to approach it, how to commit to it emotionally, that's where he's such a master," he stated with reverence.

Bhansali: A Master of Exploring Possibilities

Vicky Kaushal reserved his highest praise for Bhansali's directorial method, which he termed a masterclass in exploration. "He's a master of exploring the possibilities of what this character, or these two characters, or these three characters, could do in a given circumstance," Kaushal said about the 'Love & War' director.

He described the process as filled with both joy and adrenaline, as Bhansali pushes his actors to discover new dimensions within a scene. This creative high often lingers long after the cameras stop rolling. Yet, this exhilarating journey is not without its initial challenges. Kaushal confessed that the beginning can be "very nerve-racking," especially when an actor has not yet locked into a single emotional path for a scene. "Some of those possibilities are not coming naturally, but you're reaching for them, going there," he added, describing the demanding yet rewarding creative push.

With 'Love & War', Sanjay Leela Bhansali is set to deliver another monumental film, and Vicky Kaushal's revelations only heighten the anticipation for this epic collaboration that promises to be a landmark in Indian cinema.
