Tragic Suicide of TV Actress Subhashini in Chennai Apartment
A 36-year-old television actress, identified as Subhashini alias Sasvibala, died by suicide at her rented apartment in Iyyappanthangal near Porur, Chennai, on Sunday night. The incident occurred following a heated dispute with her husband during a video call, according to police reports.
Details of the Deceased and Her Background
Subhashini, a native of Sri Lanka, was 36 years old and worked as a supporting actress in a TV serial, with additional roles in films. She married Bipin Chandran, 38, in April 2024, and the couple had been living together. Police revealed that Subhashini had rented the apartment in a private residential complex to accommodate her shooting schedules in Chennai, having arrived in the city on March 3.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Tragedy
On Sunday night, Subhashini was engaged in a video call with her husband when an argument erupted between them. During the call, she tragically hanged herself from a ceiling fan inside the apartment. Her husband, who witnessed the incident over the video call, immediately alerted the apartment security personnel. The security team promptly informed the police, who rushed to the scene.
A police team recovered the body and transported it to Poonamallee Government Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Given that the marriage had taken place only two years ago, authorities have ordered a revenue divisional officer inquiry to investigate the circumstances surrounding the case.
