Telugu actor Teja Sajja, who won nationwide acclaim for his role in the 2024 blockbuster 'HanuMan', has officially shut down swirling rumours about his exit from its highly anticipated sequel, 'Jai Hanuman'. The actor has clarified his continued involvement in the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU) project.
Setting the Record Straight: Sajja Calls Reports "False News"
Recent speculation suggested that Teja Sajja had walked away from 'Jai Hanuman' due to limited screen time and creative differences. However, in a direct communication reported by Hindustan Times, the actor himself labelled these claims as "false news". He confirmed that he has not distanced himself from the sequel, which is a crucial part of director Prasanth Varma's expanding superhero universe.
The rumours had caused concern among fans who adored Sajja's portrayal of the superhero in the original film. The climax of 'HanuMan' had set the stage for a larger conflict, showing Lord Hanuman emerging from the Himalayas, directly leading into the narrative of the sequel.
The Future of PVCU: Rishab Shetty as Hanuman and Upcoming Films
'Jai Hanuman' is a significant pillar of the PVCU. In a major casting announcement made in October 2024, it was revealed that Rishab Shetty, the acclaimed star and creator of 'Kantara', will essay the role of Lord Hanuman in this installment. The film has not commenced shooting yet. The PVCU slate also includes other ambitious films like 'Mahakali' and 'Adhira', promising an interconnected mythology-based superhero franchise.
Teja Sajja's Continued Success with 'Mirai'
Following 'HanuMan', Teja Sajja headlined another successful superhero venture titled 'Mirai'. Directed by Karthik Gattamneni, the film hit theatres on September 12, 2025. It tells the story of a young warrior protecting nine sacred scriptures that can transform mortals into deities, armed with a miraculous staff.
The film proved to be a commercial hit, with trade analyst Sacnilk reporting a worldwide collection of Rs 141 crore. 'Mirai' featured an ensemble cast including Manchu Manoj, Ritika Nayak, Jagapathi Babu, Jayaram, and Shriya Saran in pivotal roles, further cementing Sajja's standing in the genre.
With the rumours now firmly dispelled, fans can look forward to seeing Teja Sajja reprise his role in the next chapter of the PVCU, alongside Rishab Shetty's much-awaited entry as the divine Hanuman.
