The Malayalam film industry and fans across India are mourning the loss of legendary actor, writer, and director Sreenivasan. In a moving tribute, Tamil superstar Suriya quietly visited the late actor's residence in Kandanad, Ernakulam, to pay his last respects.
A Quiet Visit from an Admirer
Suriya arrived at Sreenivasan's home while he was in Ernakulam for the shooting of his upcoming film. He spent time in prayer for the departed soul. Speaking to the media, Suriya expressed his deep admiration, stating he was a huge fan who had closely followed Sreenivasan's work even before beginning his own cinematic journey. He added that he was praying for Sreenivasan's soul to rest in peace.
Final Farewell and Public Homage
The final rites of Sreenivasan are scheduled to be held at 10 a.m. at his residence in Kandanad, Tripunithura. The veteran artist passed away after suffering breathing difficulties while being transported to a private hospital for dialysis. He was rushed to the Tripunithura Taluk Hospital but could not be saved.
To allow fans and well-wishers a chance to say goodbye, his mortal remains were kept for public viewing. The body was first taken to the Town Hall around 1 p.m., where viewing continued until 4 p.m., before being moved to his residence.
Film Fraternity Bids Adieu
The Town Hall and his residence saw an outpouring of grief from colleagues and admirers. Megastars Mammootty and Mohanlal visited to pay their homage. They were joined by a host of other prominent figures from the Malayalam film industry, including actor Dileep, director Sathyan Anthikad, Basil Joseph, Lal, Suresh Krishna, and Unni Mukundan. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also arrived to offer his respects.
Tributes have poured in from across the Indian film industry, with icons from Rajinikanth to Prithviraj Sukumaran remembering Sreenivasan's legacy.

Mammootty shared a short but poignant message, writing, "Can't stop thinking about you, my friend..."
Mohanlal penned an emotional note reflecting on their lifelong bond. He expressed the difficulty of the loss, stating, "He left without saying goodbye. I don't know how to put into words the deep soul-connection I shared with Sreeni." He highlighted Sreenivasan's unique talent for capturing the common man's life, saying Malayalis saw their own reflections in the characters he created. Recalling their iconic duo from the film Nadodikkattu, Mohanlal credited Sreenivasan's brilliant writing for making characters like Dasan and Vijayan beloved figures for every Malayali.
The passing of Sreenivasan marks the end of an era for Malayalam cinema, leaving behind a vast body of work that chronicled the joys, pains, and humour of everyday life.
