Sudha Chandran Reflects on Her TV Career and Financial Growth
Television icon Sudha Chandran, renowned for her roles in popular daily soaps, recently opened up about her early days in the industry and the significant financial leap she has made over the years. In a candid interview, she shared memories from her time on the hit show Kaahin Kissii Roz, which aired in the early 2000s and cemented her status as a household name.
From Modest Beginnings to Stardom
Sudha Chandran, who played the character Ramola Sikand on Kaahin Kissii Roz, disclosed that she started with a daily fee of Rs 3,000 when she began the show. Fast forward to today, and she now commands an impressive Rs 3 lakh per day, marking a 100-fold increase in her earnings. She emphasized that this journey was not just about monetary gain but also about the fame and respect she garnered through her work.
In the interview on Hindi Rush's YouTube channel, Sudha reminisced about signing the show around the time of her marriage. She faced skepticism from those who believed her busy schedule would strain her personal life, but with unwavering support from her husband, she persevered. "I worked day and night for 8 years straight, but it was fun because you were earning fame and money," she said, highlighting the dual rewards of her dedication.
Balaji Telefilms: A Supportive Environment
Sudha expressed deep appreciation for Balaji Telefilms, the production house behind many of her successful shows. She described the sets as pampering environments with vanity vans and minimal pressure, which attracted actors transitioning from films. "Witnessing the junoon (passion) on the sets made me happy and motivated me to work even more," she added, crediting the positive atmosphere for her sustained involvement.
She also noted that her current success on television stems from the iconic characters she portrayed during that era. "The money I am making today from television is because of those characters that I played," Sudha stated, underscoring the long-term impact of her early roles.
Fulfilling Dreams with Early Earnings
One of the most poignant aspects of Sudha's story is how she utilized her initial earnings. Despite her father owning a house in Mumbai, she took pride in purchasing her own home and cars with the money she earned from Kaahin Kissii Roz. "That is the money with which I bought my house and my cars," she revealed, emphasizing the personal fulfillment and independence it brought her.
She reflected on the broader significance of financial success, saying, "It's not about money; it's about the fame and respect you have earned because of that money... The dreams you could fulfil because of that money. That is the biggest thing of all." This sentiment captures her journey from a budding actor to a respected figure in the entertainment industry.
