Bollywood icons Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone were absent from the Met Gala, but they dominated online discussions as they headed to a beach to film a song sequence for their upcoming movie 'King'. The on-screen duo, rumored to be romantically paired in the film, were photographed on a South African beach shooting a dance number.
Viral Beach Shoot
Clips from the shoot, which quickly went viral, showed the actors in light, neutral-toned outfits walking toward each other and performing choreography against a golden sunset. The pair rehearsed the dance two or three times, pausing to reset their positions. Although the beach area appeared to be closed off, they attracted a sizable crowd eager to watch the filming.
South Africa Schedule
Khan and Padukone arrived in South Africa last week to begin production. They kicked off the schedule with a song sequence, and behind-the-scenes videos hinted at a track reportedly featuring Ed Sheeran. Khan was also seen filming a solo car scene, with reports suggesting the crew is in Cape Town to shoot an intense climax.
Director's Request on Leaks
Following the circulation of set photos and videos, director Siddharth Anand posted on X, urging fans not to share leaked content. His note read: 'REQUEST TO ALL THE FANS. Please do not post or circulate any leaked multimedia from the sets of KING. The team is working round the clock to ensure the best cinematic experience for everyone. Let us wait for the surprise on the big screen and for the assets to be revealed as the team of King originally intends to. Thank you for your love, support and cooperation. Shah Rukh Khan in & as KING.'
'King' Release and Box Office Clash
'King', marking another collaboration between Khan and Padukone, is one of the most anticipated Bollywood releases of 2026. It is slated to hit theaters on December 24, just a week after the releases of 'Avengers: Doomsday' and 'Dune: Part Three'. This timing has set up a major box office clash, further intensified by the release of 'Jumanji 3'.
