Shubhangi Atre Embraces Big Screen Return as Beloved Angoori Bhabhi
Though she has departed from the daily television soap Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!, actress Shubhangi Atre expresses immense joy at slipping back into the cherished character of Angoori bhabhi, this time for a cinematic venture. She is confirmed to reprise her widely popular role in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! Fun On The Run, the highly anticipated film adaptation of the long-running sitcom.
From Guest Appearance to Full-Fledged Film Role
Reflecting on her return to the film medium, Shubhangi reveals, "The guest appearance in C Kkompany occurred because I was involved with Ektaa Kapoor's Kasturi, which she also produced. However, Bhabiji represents a complete, full-fledged role for me. We had always nurtured the hope that a film based on such an iconic television show would eventually materialize."
Having recently exited the sitcom after portraying Angoori for an entire decade, stepping back into the character's persona for promotional activities evoked a powerful surge of emotions. "It absolutely felt surreal," she confesses. "When I adorned the Angoori attire again for the trailer launch, merely two months after leaving the show, the experience was overwhelmingly poignant. I had embodied this character for ten full years. Numerous personal challenges were unfolding in my life during that period, and I frequently arrived on set with a heavy heart. Yet, the moment I transformed into Angoori, I would forget everything else."
Navigating Post-Exit Controversy with Grace
The period following her departure became somewhat contentious after Shilpa Shinde's re-entry into the television series, with Shilpa's comments regarding Shubhangi's acting style and mannerisms igniting public debate. Choosing to concentrate on the positive reinforcement she received, Shubhangi states, "I am profoundly filled with gratitude for the immense love and appreciation bestowed upon me by the audience, and for the unwavering support from colleagues, many of whom had never even collaborated with me directly."
She elaborates further, "I arrived in Mumbai in 2007 with merely ₹6,000 and colossal dreams. Originating from a modest background, my sole objective has always been to win people's affection through my artistic endeavors. I simply pray that I never lose that innate innocence, integrity, and authenticity that define me."
Embracing New Horizons Beyond Angoori
When questioned if she misses portraying Angoori, Shubhangi admits, "Perhaps," adding, "She will perpetually reside within my heart. However, the time has arrived to explore fresh characters and diverse creative mediums."
Recalling why she did not actively pursue film opportunities after C Kkompany, Shubhangi clarifies, "Nothing specifically held me back. The demanding schedule of television never truly afforded me the luxury to contemplate other projects. I was consistently engaged in work. Television is predominantly female-oriented; actresses frequently serve as the heroes of their respective narratives. Concurrently, I bore significant financial responsibilities, which did not permit extensive experimentation or risk-taking. Presently, I sense it is the opportune moment to evolve and expand my artistic horizons."
This transition marks a significant milestone in Shubhangi Atre's career, as she bridges her television legacy with new cinematic aspirations, all while cherishing the decade-long connection with a character that endeared her to millions of viewers nationwide.
