Shakti Mohan Sets Record Straight on Katrina Kaif's Dhoom 3 Stunt Rumors
For years, Bollywood enthusiasts have whispered and wondered whether the electrifying stunts in the iconic song Kamli from Dhoom 3 were performed by Katrina Kaif herself or by her choreographer, Shakti Mohan. In a candid revelation, Shakti has now definitively quashed these long-standing speculations, shedding light on Katrina's extraordinary work ethic and the physical toll the shoot took on the superstar.
'How Could I Possibly Be Her Body Double?'
Addressing the persistent rumors head-on, Shakti Mohan dismissed the idea with logical clarity, emphasizing the apparent physical disparities between herself and Katrina Kaif. "Has anyone ever seen me perform stunts on reality shows like Dance India Dance?" she questioned rhetorically in an interview with Filmygyan. "Moreover, to serve as a body double for Katrina Kaif, wouldn't I need a completely different skin tone? My complexion and height do not align with hers. How could I possibly be her body double?" Her straightforward rebuttal puts an end to years of fan theories.
Months of Grueling Rehearsals Before the Shoot
Delving into the preparation behind the high-energy number, Shakti revealed that she was assisting renowned choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant at the time and worked intimately with Katrina during extensive rehearsals. "I was assisting Vaibhavi Merchant for this song, prior to embarking on my own choreography career. Since Katrina had to perform solo, they required someone to instruct her on the intricate moves. We rehearsed relentlessly for one and a half months. I had to execute the dance in a single take," Shakti shared, highlighting the precision and dedication involved.
'Suddenly, Immense Pressure Mounted on Everyone'
Shakti admitted that Katrina's unwavering commitment elevated the performance standards for everyone on set, including seasoned professional dancers. "This was an insane experience for me because when Katrina arrived, suddenly there was immense pressure on all of us to dance at her level, despite my lifelong professional dancing background. Katrina exhibited a relentless, never-give-up attitude," she recounted. She further clarified that while Katrina performed the majority of the steps herself, a stunt double was employed exclusively for the most perilous segments. "She executed all the steps consecutively, excluding the stunts. For the hazardous stunts, they brought in a body double from France. Interestingly, that double eventually settled in India and got married here," Shakti added.
Bruises, Determination, and a Heartfelt Gesture
Recalling the physically demanding nature of the shoot, Shakti emphasized how Katrina refused to back down even when injured. "Numerous elements could have been handled by a body double, but Katrina insisted on doing them herself. There was one exceptionally challenging step involving a back arch, and she persevered without quitting. She endured bruises all over her body. She is incredibly hard-working," Shakti praised. Beyond the professional rigor, Shakti also shared a personal moment that left a lasting impression. "After the shoot concluded, she sent a bag to my home accompanied by a very thoughtful note," she fondly recalled, illustrating Katrina's graciousness off-camera.
This revelation not only dispels myths but also celebrates the sheer grit and professionalism that define Bollywood's leading performers. Katrina Kaif's dedication in Kamli stands as a testament to her commitment to her craft, inspiring both peers and fans alike.
