Samantha's Giant Portrait-Cut Diamond Ring Steals Wedding Spotlight
Samantha's Giant Diamond Ring Reveals Possible Early Engagement

In a long-awaited announcement that sent fans into a frenzy, popular South Indian actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu and filmmaker Raj Nidimoru have officially tied the knot. The couple, who had been the subject of dating rumours for months, made their union official with an intimate ceremony on 1 December 2025.

A Sacred and Intimate Ceremony

The wedding took place at the serene Ling Bhairavi Temple located within the Isha Yoga Centre in Coimbatore. Samantha, the radiant bride, chose a stunning traditional red bridal saree for the occasion. Raj, the groom, complemented her perfectly in an elegant white kurta pajama, which he paired with a sophisticated gold Nehru jacket. The pictures from the ceremony instantly captured the hearts of millions, flooding social media with love and blessings for the newlyweds.

However, amidst the celebration of their union, one detail captivated the attention of eagle-eyed fans more than any other: the magnificent diamond ring on Samantha's finger.

The Ring That Sparked a Mystery

As Raj placed the ring on Samantha's hand during the wedding rituals, its sheer size and brilliance became impossible to ignore. The exceptional cut and clarity of the stone marked it as a truly unique piece of jewellery. This moment led fans on a digital detective journey, where they made a fascinating discovery.

Scrolling back through Samantha's Instagram feed, netizens found that the actress had been wearing what appears to be the exact same ring much earlier in the year. A close-up picture posted on 13 February 2025, where she rests her face on her hand, clearly showcases the large, distinctive diamond. The ring is also visible in other candid close-ups from around that time.

This revelation sparked immediate speculation: did Samantha and Raj secretly get engaged at the start of 2025? The comments on her February post now seem prophetic. One fan had written, "Am I the only one who feels she's engaged," while another noted, "Finally smile is backk.." A third well-wisher added, "I hope the ring and the love stays with you forever..Love you Sam." Whether it was an engagement or a promise, the ring has been a significant part of her journey for months.

A Diamond Steeped in History

While the couple has kept the details of the ring private, renowned jeweller Abhilasha Bhandari provided expert insight to Hindustan Times. She identified Samantha's ring as featuring a rare portrait-cut diamond, one of the oldest and most timeless diamond styles in existence.

Bhandari explained that the portrait cut is a very thin, flat diamond with a large top surface and almost no depth. "This historic cut was originally used in Mughal-era jewellery to cover miniature paintings and royal portraits and is how it earned the name 'portrait cut'," she said. The cut symbolizes strength, vitality, and a clean character.

She elaborated on its significance, noting, "Due to the scarcity of cutting techniques and machines, this was one of the first widely popular cuts, also because it could be done on a rough diamond easily. The transparent nature of the cut and the gem has to be the best and of the most supreme quality else it'll not look as it has a huge. This type of diamond has a very large surface area that is visible to the naked eye, much more than a round brilliant piece would."

Adding a layer of romantic heritage, the portrait-cut diamond is historically associated with the Mughal era and was reportedly a favourite of Emperor Shah Jahan, the creator of the iconic Taj Mahal for his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Samantha's conscious choice of this cut reflects a deep connection to heritage and adds profound significance to her new life with Raj.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu's wedding was a beautiful celebration of love, but it was her portrait-cut diamond ring that became the unforgettable symbol of the day. Whether it marked a quiet engagement in February or was a gift of promise, the ring now stands as a dazzling emblem of their union, blending modern love with centuries of historical romance.
