While acknowledging that television actors often encounter brief comic moments within dramatic narratives, Parekh emphasized that the opportunity to anchor an entire comedy series represents a fresh and invigorating creative frontier for him.
"In fact, while you do TV, you do get a few scenes that are comedy. The audience has mostly seen me in intense and emotional roles so far. But as an actor, it's very exciting to step into something that is completely different," Parekh elaborated, highlighting his eagerness to break away from his established on-screen persona.
A Journey Across Platforms and Formats
The actor reflected on his diverse career path, which has already spanned various platforms. Beyond mainstream television dramas, Parekh ventured into the realm of reality television with the popular dance competition Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. He describes this experience as unforgettable and phenomenally challenging.
"My journey has already taken me through different kinds of platforms and formats, from television to reality shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, where I stepped into a dance reality stage for the first time. I think that experience itself was phenomenal because I had never danced professionally before. I had never even stepped on the stage of a reality show before," he shared, underscoring his willingness to embrace new challenges.
Open to Surprising Fans with the Right Opportunity
Parekh made it clear that he is fully open to surprising his fanbase should the perfect comedic opportunity arise. "So yes, I think if a good comedy script comes my way or a good character comes my way, I would love, love to surprise my fans with that side of me," he affirmed with enthusiasm.
When questioned about a potential preference between a serious romantic drama and a light-hearted comedy series, the actor declined to compare genres directly. "I don't judge it like that. I think both have their own charm," he said. However, he conceded that comedy currently presents a particularly enticing challenge.
"But right now, a light-hearted comedy series would be quite exciting because it would show a completely different side of me to the audience, which I have been craving with every new show that I do," Parekh noted, pinpointing his current creative aspiration.
Learning from Past Success and Digital Expansion
Parekh also looked back on the significant success of Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan, a project that later expanded into the digital space as a web series. "Having said that, I think romantic dramas are something I naturally connect with as well. When Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan later became a web series, it gave me a whole new exposure to digital space, and it was also one of the most-watched series when it released on platforms like Voot and Jiocinema," he recounted.
These multifaceted experiences, Parekh believes, have fundamentally encouraged him to continue experimenting with different genres and mediums. His journey in the entertainment industry is one of constant evolution, driven by a passion for growth and a refusal to be typecast.
