Rajpal Yadav's Emotional Journey: Bollywood Memories and Legal Battles

Rajpal Yadav, the beloved actor known for his memorable performances in films like 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi', 'Kal Ho Na Ho', 'Waqt', and 'Bhoothnath', has recently opened up about his heartfelt experiences working with some of Indian cinema's biggest stars. In a candid reflection, he shared warm memories of collaborating with Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Amitabh Bachchan, while also revealing the personal and legal challenges he has been facing behind the scenes.

Warm Bonds with Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan

In an old interview with Lallantop, Rajpal Yadav spoke fondly about his long association with Salman Khan. He described working on 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi' as a "fantastic experience" and praised Salman's character on set. According to Rajpal, "Salman bhai is good to everyone on set, unka apna attitude hai zindagi jeene ka. Everyone loves him. Once you become his friend, you realise he is very calm, cool, simple and such a pure at heart person."

He added that Salman's public appearance carries its own unique attitude, and he has greatly enjoyed working with him in 7-8 films, each offering a distinct experience. "The best part about Salman bhai is that he treats everyone–from spot boys to co-actors– really well. He is good to everyone," Rajpal emphasized, highlighting the star's humility and kindness.

Speaking about Shah Rukh Khan, Rajpal recalled the joy of shooting 'Kal Ho Na Ho' in New York. "It was a joy to do the film. I got to spend a wonderful time with Shah Rukh bhai in New York, I was there for almost a week," he said. He remembered the famous dinner scene fondly, noting that rehearsals were filled with laughter. "He has inspired me a lot in my life," Rajpal shared, expressing deep admiration for the actor.

Learning from the Legendary Amitabh Bachchan

When discussing Amitabh Bachchan, Rajpal Yadav's tone turned reverent, often referring to him as "badke bhaiyaa". He described working with Amitabh Bachchan as a life lesson in itself. "For over 50 years, he has done everything in the field of acting. He faced several obstacles, personal, medical, battled everything. The one who wins every battle, makes people smile and smiles himself at the face of everything, he is called Amitabh Bachchan," Rajpal stated with respect.

He also praised Amitabh's humility, saying, "He has such a pure, simple heart, if you sit and talk to him for 30 mins, it would feel like both of you have known each other for decades." This reflection underscores the profound impact the veteran actor has had on Rajpal's career and personal growth.

The Legal Battle and Financial Crisis

Behind the smiles and cherished memories, Rajpal Yadav has been fighting a long legal battle. Recently, he surrendered at Delhi's Tihar Jail in a cheque bounce case linked to his directorial movie 'Ata Pata Laapata'. The financial troubles began in 2010 when he took a large loan to finance the film, which unfortunately failed at the box office. As financial pressure mounted, cheques bounced, leading to a conviction in 2018 by a magistrate's court for him and his wife.

The pending amount reportedly increased to nearly Rs 9 crore over time. Although Rajpal made partial repayments, including ₹75 lakh in 2025, delays continued. On February 4, 2026, the court rejected his final plea for more time and ordered him to surrender, marking a difficult chapter in his life.

Emotional Plea and Industry Support

Just before surrendering, Rajpal broke down emotionally. He was quoted by News X saying, "Sir, kya karoon? Mere paas paise nahin hain. Aur koi upaay nahin dikhta… Sir, yahan hum sab akele hain. There are no friends. I have to deal with this crisis on my own." His words revealed deep pain and a sense of isolation during this challenging period.

However, in this difficult phase, support has poured in from the Bollywood industry. Sonu Sood offered him a role and a signing amount to help financially. According to Rajpal Yadav's manager, Goldie, in an interview with HT, "A lot of people have reached out to help Rajpal Yadav. Actors like Sonu Sood, Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn have extended their support. I was just on a call with David Dhawan — he too reached out. Ratan Jain, Varun Dhawan… many people are coming forward to help him this time, which Rajpal has deeply appreciated."

Additionally, politician Tej Pratap Yadav pledged financial assistance, while others like KRK and music producer Rao Inderjeet Singh offered monetary support. This outpouring of help highlights the solidarity within the entertainment community during times of crisis.

Rajpal Yadav's story is a poignant blend of cherished Bollywood memories and personal struggles, showcasing the highs and lows of a celebrated actor's journey in the film industry.
