Rajesh Kumar's Sisters Leave Overseas Careers to Support His Farming Dream
Rajesh Kumar, the beloved actor famed for his role as Roshesh Kumar in the iconic television series Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, has frequently opened up about his dual life as a farmer. In numerous past interviews, he has shared how he took a significant hiatus from the acting world to immerse himself in agriculture. Now, in a heartfelt new conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Rajesh has unveiled an inspiring family development: his sisters, who were settled abroad for over two decades, have quit their lucrative jobs to join him in his organic farming venture in Bihar.
A Family Reunion Rooted in Farming
Rajesh detailed how his elder sister, an American citizen living in the US, made the bold decision to resign from her job two months before his 50th birthday on January 20. She moved back to Bihar as a birthday gift, telling him to focus on his acting career while she managed the farming operations. This act of solidarity inspired his younger sister, a citizen of Finland, to also resign from her position. She is currently serving her notice period and plans to return to India by next March to participate in the agricultural endeavor. Rajesh expressed his joy, stating in Hindi, "So ab hum teeno bhai Behan milke kheti karenge" (Now we three siblings will farm together).
Challenges and Comparisons to Swades
He also shared a humorous yet poignant incident involving his elder sister struggling with internet connectivity in their village. Rajesh recounted, "She called me to complain about the internet. Our village still lacks proper connectivity, with limited access to about 2GB. She felt helpless for the first time, having always had easy internet access." He likened her situation to the film Swades, highlighting the digital divide in rural areas and her difficulties in accessing necessary information without reliable internet.
Financial Progress and Past Ventures
In the same interview, Rajesh provided an update on his financial situation, revealing that he has almost repaid a debt of Rs 2 crore that he had previously disclosed. He said, "As for the debt, it is almost cleared now. Only a small portion is left—around 10–15% of the total amount I had taken." During his break from acting, Rajesh had ventured into farming with a business plan that included introducing an app for selling organic produce and even running a vegetable cart outside his son's school, showcasing his dedication to the agricultural lifestyle.
This story underscores a remarkable journey of family support, resilience, and a return to roots, blending entertainment with earnest farming efforts.
