The blockbuster film Dhurandhar continues its historic box office run, but in a surprising personal revelation, actor Rahul Khanna has admitted he has not yet watched the movie, despite his younger brother Akshaye Khanna delivering a critically acclaimed performance in it.
A Brotherly Wait for the Big Screen
In a recent interview, Rahul Khanna shared the heartfelt reason behind his delay in watching one of the year's biggest hits. He expressed his desire to experience the Aditya Dhar-directed film for the first time alongside his brother, Akshaye, rather than watching it alone in a theatre or privately.
"I haven't seen the movie yet. I'm waiting for him to show it to me," Rahul told Mid-Day. He added with affection, "Anything he wears looks great, so I'm sure he looks fantastic in the film." This comment nods to Akshaye Khanna's widely praised portrayal of the character Rehman Dakait, which has been hailed as a major highlight of the cinematic spectacle.
The Khanna Brothers' Evolving Bond
This revelation sheds light on the close relationship between the two actors. Akshaye Khanna has previously spoken about their unique bond, emphasizing that it was never forced by parental influence but grew naturally over time. In an older interview with The Times of India, Akshaye reflected on the importance of family.
"My relationship with my brother was independent of my parents. That hasn't changed," he stated. "As your immediate family gets smaller, you tend to hold on more closely to what remains." This sentiment adds a deeper layer to Rahul's choice to wait for a shared viewing experience.
Unstoppable Box Office Domination
While Rahul waits, Dhurandhar shows no signs of stopping at the ticket windows. The film, starring Ranveer Singh in the lead, is in the midst of a phenomenal theatrical run that has defied typical post-release trends.
On its fifth Saturday (Day 30), the film collected an impressive ₹12.60 crore domestically. This pushed its India nett total to a staggering ₹806.80 crore. The following day, its 31st day in cinemas, it added an estimated ₹10.07 crore.
The film's sustained power is evident in its fourth-week earnings of ₹106.5 crore. After 30 days, its India nett collection stood at approximately ₹759.50 crore, with the gross collection in India reaching around ₹911.25 crore.
Globally, the momentum is even more spectacular. Dhurandhar has already surpassed the lifetime collections of other major Hindi blockbusters like Jawan and Pathaan. Early trade estimates peg its worldwide gross at about ₹1,186.25 crore, inching it closer to the coveted ₹1,200 crore mark.
Trade analysts now predict the film could soon challenge the global haul of KGF: Chapter 2 (₹1,215 crore) and potentially enter the elite club of all-time top-grossing Indian films alongside legends like Dangal and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion.
With audience interest remaining strong well into its fifth week, the stage is set for the already announced sequel, scheduled for release on 19 March 2026.
