The director revealed that he specifically asked the production team to pay Yadav more than his standard fee due to the actor's current financial struggles. Priyadarshan confirmed that the producers have agreed to this arrangement.
"I told the producers of my next film to pay Rajpal more than what he charges because of his situation," Priyadarshan told the publication. "We want to save him. The producers have agreed. Rajpal plays the villain in my movie."
Two Decades of Professional Relationship
Priyadarshan shared that he has known Rajpal Yadav for over twenty years, having first noticed the actor's talent in the film 'Jungle'. The director expressed being "surprised" by Yadav's performance in that early role. Their professional collaboration began with the 2006 comedy 'Malamaal Weekly', after which Yadav appeared in several of Priyadarshan's subsequent projects.
The filmmaker acknowledged he was aware of Yadav's financial difficulties even before the current crisis became public. "I knew about his problem. That's why I kept signing Rajpal for every film," Priyadarshan explained. "I pushed him in ad films too. The poor guy made a blunder because of his poor education. Rajpal is a good soul."
