Prateek Yadav comes from one of Uttar Pradesh's most prominent political families. He is the son of Mulayam Singh Yadav and his second wife, Sadhana Gupta. This makes him the stepbrother of current Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav.

Who is Aparna Yadav?
Aparna Yadav, originally Aparna Bisht, married Prateek Yadav in 2011. She entered politics through the Samajwadi Party, contesting the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election from Lucknow Cantonment constituency. She lost that election to BJP's Rita Bahuguna Joshi.
In a significant political shift, Aparna joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in January 2022. She publicly praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
