Mumbai BEST Announces Significant Hike in Filming Charges for Next Five Years
In a move aimed at bolstering its financial resources, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking has announced a substantial revision in filming charges at its facilities across Mumbai. The new fee structure will be effective from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2030, making it more expensive for film, television, and advertisement productions to shoot at BEST depots, bus stations, and bus stops.
Revised Fee Structure Details
Under the updated pricing model, daily filming charges at BEST depots will see a sharp increase. Starting at approximately Rs 3.9 lakh in the 2025-26 period, the cost will escalate to Rs 5.8 lakh by 2029-30. Similarly, fees for bus stations will rise from Rs 2.1 lakh to Rs 3.1 lakh over the same timeframe. For bus stops, the charges will jump from about Rs 99,861 to Rs 1.4 lakh, reflecting a significant upward adjustment.
This revision is expected to generate additional revenue for the civic-run transport body, which operates 26 depots and numerous bus stations and stops throughout Mumbai. These locations are popular choices for filmmakers and advertisers due to their urban aesthetic and accessibility.
