Monalisa Breaks Silence on 'The 50' Experience and Industry Dynamics

In an exclusive and candid conversation, actress Monalisa has opened up about her recent elimination from the reality show 'The 50', sharing her feelings of being sidelined by television actors, hitting back at fellow contestant Rajat Dalal, and reacting strongly to plastic surgery remarks made about Nikki Tamboli. The actress, who entered the show with her husband Vikrant Rajpoot, did not hold back in expressing her disappointment and observations about the competitive environment.

On Her Elimination from 'The 50'

Monalisa expressed that every reality show comes with its own unique format, but 'The 50' was particularly distinct as it brought together 50 contestants for the very first time. "I had assumed that once I entered the house, I would get the chance to build new friendships and form fresh alliances," she revealed. "However, things turned out quite differently. After stepping inside, I felt disheartened because many contestants already shared strong bonds."

She elaborated that instead of small groups of three or four people, there were large groups of 15-16 individuals, making it extremely challenging to find her space and get noticed the way she had hoped. "In that environment, finding my space and getting noticed the way I hoped to was extremely challenging," Monalisa admitted, highlighting the competitive dynamics that worked against her.

Disappointment with Contestant Voting and Outside Issues

The actress was particularly disappointed with the voting mechanism on the show. "If the audience had voted, I believe my fans would not have eliminated me so early," she stated confidently. She also pointed out that many contestants brought their outside issues into the house, referencing conflicts like the Elvish Yadav matter that led to fights.

"I did not have any problems with anyone outside, so I had nothing to carry into the house or argue about," Monalisa explained, suggesting that her clean slate might have worked against her in an environment where pre-existing conflicts and alliances played a significant role.

Feeling Unwelcomed by Television Actors

One of the most revealing aspects of the interview was Monalisa's admission that she felt unwelcomed by other television actors on the show. "Yes, I felt unwelcomed," she confirmed. "I can relate to it because something similar happened during Bigg Boss as well."

She recalled that when she first stepped out of the Bhojpuri industry and entered a major reality show, she felt that existing groups of TV actors did not fully accept her. "I ended up getting more visibility among the commoners instead," she noted. Despite having worked across industries for seven to eight years, done several television shows, and delivered hit projects, the bonding still did not happen on 'The 50'.

The Persistent Bhojpuri Actor Tag

Monalisa expressed frustration at still being seen primarily through the lens of her Bhojpuri background. "It sometimes feels like I am still seen only through the Bhojpuri actor tag, and that does make me feel a little disheartened," she confessed.

While acknowledging that everyone spoke nicely to each other and there was no overt rudeness, she pointed out that when it came to making real efforts to build close bonds, it simply didn't happen. "Maybe they didn't try much, and I didn't either," she reflected. "We just had normal conversations, nothing deeper than that."

Hitting Back at Rajat Dalal

Monalisa did not mince words when discussing Rajat Dalal's comments about her husband Vikrant. "I was extremely angry," she stated emphatically. "I kept thinking that if Rajat had so much to say behind Vikrant's back, why didn't he say it to my face or his face? If he had spoken openly in front of Vikrant, things would have been different."

She expressed concern that Vikrant would be hurt when he watches the footage, but added, "But maybe that's just his personality. Perhaps he doesn't have the courage to speak openly and prefers to talk behind someone's back instead."

Defending Nikki Tamboli Against Plastic Surgery Remarks

Monalisa took a strong stand against comments made about Nikki Tamboli's appearance. "It was completely wrong," she asserted. "I don't think anyone should make such comments. Everyone has the right to present themselves the way they want."

She elaborated that whether someone chooses to go to the gym, practice yoga, wear makeup, or even seek medical help, there's nothing wrong with that choice. "If someone wants to enhance their beauty with the help of surgery or medical assistance, there is nothing wrong in it," Monalisa declared. "That's how I see it."

Reflections on the Experience and Vikrant's Journey

Despite her early elimination, Monalisa described the experience as valuable. "It was still a great experience for both of us because it was our first time being part of such a big reality show," she said. "We are two very different individuals, and it gave us a platform to show who we truly are."

She explained that while she wanted to make friends, she believed in only opening up when vibes genuinely match. "I never wanted to feel like someone's last option," she stated. "I felt it was better to step out than stay in a space where I had to depend on others."

Regarding her husband's continued participation, she noted, "Vikrant is still inside and playing well. Since this is also his first major reality show, he is approaching it very strategically. He is quite sharp and knows how to plan his moves carefully."

Monalisa's frank revelations provide a rare glimpse into the complex social dynamics of reality television and the entertainment industry's sometimes unspoken hierarchies and prejudices.
