Mithila has played many different characters over the years. This project, however, pushes her into a fun and intentionally silly space. She feels genuinely excited about this change. The actress believes the film will reveal a fresh and humorous side of her talent to fans.
Vir Das Makes His Directorial Debut
Stand-up comedian and actor Vir Das is directing 'Happy Patel'. This film represents his first venture behind the camera as a director. The project has already generated considerable buzz in the industry.
Recently, filmmaker Farah Khan visited Vir Das's Mumbai home for her vlog. Their conversation turned to the new film. Vir playfully compared 'Happy Patel' to Farah's own comedies like 'Om Shanti Om' and 'Happy New Year'.
When Farah asked her cook Dilip if he knew about Vir's film, he appeared confused. Farah joked, "He doesn't know anything. Vir's film is titled 'Happy Patel'." Vir quickly added the subtitle, "Khatarnak Jasoos." Dilip then remarked, "But you have made Happy New Year," prompting laughter from Farah who said, "He just likes to take one word and then he says whatever he wants."
Vir described the film as "a crazy and silly film just like 'Happy New Year'." He even joked, "My film is fully faltu!" Farah responded with a smile, "You mean to say mine was half faltu?" Later, she praised the trailer, saying, "The trailer is my kind of funny. I love it." Overall, the anticipation for 'Happy Patel' is running high.
Simultaneously Starring in Priyadarshan's 'Bhooth Bangla'
Alongside her comedy debut, Mithila Palkar will also appear in the film 'Bhooth Bangla'. Veteran director Priyadarshan is helming this project. The movie features a powerhouse cast including Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal.
In a conversation with The Free Press Journal, Mithila expressed her admiration for Priyadarshan's work. She highlighted his efficiency and unique style. "Priyadarshan sir's films are a genre in themselves," she said. "We grew up watching them. We still quote them here and there. It's incredible that I got to witness that play out in front of me."
She also spoke about observing the seasoned team dynamics on set. "The fact that these guys have worked together for as many years, it's like a well-oiled machine," Mithila added. "It's so much fun to watch them work together, Priyan sir, Akshay sir (Kumar), and Paresh sir (Rawal). It was really fun to just be a witness of their art."
Strong Ensemble Cast and Release Update
'Bhooth Bangla' boasts an impressive and interesting ensemble. The cast includes Tabu and Wamiqa Gabbi alongside Mithila Palkar. The late veteran actor Asrani also holds an important role in the film.
The film's release date has seen a shift. Initially planned for an April release, the makers have now moved it to May 2026. Despite this delay, excitement for the project remains strong. The combination of Priyadarshan's direction and the stellar cast continues to build anticipation.
