MEA's Official Statement on the Film

During a recent media briefing, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal addressed questions about the movie. A reporter asked him to comment on reports that the MEA had raised objections to 'Battle of Galwan'.

Jaiswal responded directly. He said the ministry understands a film of this nature is being planned. He then clarified that issues regarding filmmaking in India are handled by relevant authorities. The spokesperson emphasized that the MEA has no role in this project or similar ventures.

Details About 'Battle of Galwan'

The film is directed by Apoorva Lakhia. Salman Khan portrays Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu, who was martyred during the Galwan Valley clash. Colonel Babu served with the 16 Bihar Regiment. He received the Maha Vir Chakra posthumously for his bravery.

Salman Khan released a teaser for the film on his 60th birthday, December 27, 2025. Audience reactions to the teaser were mixed. The movie also features Chitrangda Singh in a lead role. It is scheduled to hit theaters on April 17, 2026.

Background of the Galwan Valley Incident

The clash occurred in June 2020. It significantly strained diplomatic relations between India and China. Twenty Indian Army personnel sacrificed their lives in the Galwan Valley on June 15, 2020.

In February 2021, China officially acknowledged the deaths of five Chinese military officers and soldiers. Many analysts believe the actual death toll on the Chinese side was considerably higher. The incident remains a poignant chapter in recent history.
