CBFC Trims Mastiii 4 Before Theatrical Release
The much-anticipated fourth installment of the popular comedy franchise, Mastiii 4, is finally ready for its audience, but its journey to the big screen required navigating the strict guidelines of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The board has granted the film an 'A' certificate, but only after the filmmakers implemented a series of specific cuts and modifications as directed.
What the CBFC Ordered to be Changed
According to reports, the CBFC's intervention was quite detailed. The most significant visual edit demanded was the complete removal of a nine-second sequence described as "top angle animal humping visuals." Additionally, the board ordered the makers to shorten close-up shots of human faces, which originally lasted for thirty seconds.
The audio of the film also faced scrutiny. The CBFC instructed the muting or alteration of three specific dialogues. In one instance, the word "behen" (sister) was replaced, while in another, the word "item" was substituted. Furthermore, a mention of an alcohol brand within a scene was also changed to meet the board's standards.
Following these adjustments, the film was officially cleared with an 'A' certificate on 17 November, paving the way for its cinematic debut.
Cast, Crew, and Release Details
Directed by Milap Milan Zaveri, Mastiii 4 reunites the beloved core trio of Vivek Oberoi, Ritesh Deshmukh, and Aftab Shivdasani. This project is particularly special as it marks Aftab Shivdasani's return to the silver screen after a hiatus of six years. The cast is further bolstered by Elnaaz Norouzi, Shreya Sharma, and Ruhi Singh, with cameo appearances from Genelia D’Souza, Arshad Warsi, and Nargis Fakhri. Fans can mark their calendars, as the film is scheduled to hit cinemas on 21 November.
The Masti Franchise: A Look Back
The comedy series began its journey in 2004 with Indra Kumar's Masti, which emerged as a sleeper hit and collected ₹34 crore at the box office. The sequel, Grand Masti, released in 2013, was an even bigger commercial success, earning over ₹150 crore worldwide. However, the third installment, Great Grand Masti from 2016, failed to replicate the success of its predecessors. Now, all eyes are on Mastiii 4 to revive the franchise's fortunes.
