The film, which is currently in production, will feature Akshay Kumar and Manoj Bajpayee in lead roles, marking a substantial casting change from the original 2006 comedy.
Paresh Rawal Reveals Casting Details and Dual Role Return
Speaking exclusively to Bollywood Hungama, Paresh Rawal disclosed the new casting arrangement, stating, "It'll make for a different and unique combination." He expressed nostalgia for the original cast, adding, "However, we'll miss Govinda." When questioned about Govinda's absence from the sequel, Rawal admitted, "I genuinely have no idea" regarding the reasons behind this casting decision.
Rawal further revealed that he will be portraying a dual role in Bhagam Bhag 2, marking his return to such a performance after more than two decades. His last double role was in the 2002 film Chor Machaaye Shor, followed by a triple role in 2008's Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!. Expressing his enthusiasm for the project, Rawal said, "I am excited. Maza aayega. Dhamaal hoga!"
Background and Production Details of the Sequel
Bhagam Bhag 2 serves as a direct sequel to the 2006 comedy Bhagam Bhag, which was directed by Priyadarshan and starred Akshay Kumar, Govinda, and Paresh Rawal in prominent roles. The original film achieved considerable commercial success and developed a cult following among comedy enthusiasts.
The sequel will be directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, known for his work on Dream Girl, and will also feature the Hindi film debut of actress Meenakshi Chaudhary. Production commenced earlier this year, with the film anticipated to release next year.
Earlier Casting Speculations and Clarifications
Prior to this official confirmation, there were widespread reports suggesting that actor Akshaye Khanna might join the cast of Bhagam Bhag 2. However, these speculations never materialized into reality, nor were they formally verified by any representatives associated with the film project.
The casting of Manoj Bajpayee represents a strategic shift for the franchise, bringing together two of Bollywood's most respected actors—Akshay Kumar and Manoj Bajpayee—in what promises to be a fresh comedic pairing. This development has generated considerable anticipation among fans of both the original film and the actors involved.
