Man rapes 16-year-old cousin in Amravati, POCSO case filed

A disturbing incident of sexual assault has come to light in Amravati district, where a 38-year-old man allegedly raped his 16-year-old cousin at her residence. The incident occurred on May 9 in a village under Chandur Bazar tehsil.

Details of the Incident

According to police, the survivor's mother and sister were away in their native village, while her father was at work when the accused, identified as Sachin, entered the house. He locked the door from inside and sexually assaulted the minor girl. The accused then threatened her with dire consequences if she disclosed the incident to anyone.

Legal Action Taken

The next day, the girl gathered courage and informed her mother about the assault. Following this, a complaint was lodged at Asegaon police station. The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for rape and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused is currently absconding, and a search is underway to apprehend him.
