Former Bigg Boss 19 contestant and actress Malti Chahar has shared intimate details about a debilitating health condition and a turbulent childhood, painting a picture of resilience amidst personal struggles. The sister of Indian cricketer Deepak Chahar revealed that her life took a difficult turn after the seventh grade, citing the onset of a rare medical disorder and severe family issues as defining challenges.
Living with Adenomyosis: A Monthly Ordeal
In a candid conversation with interviewer Siddharth Kannan, Malti Chahar disclosed that she suffers from adenomyosis, a condition that causes extreme menstrual pain. She explained that the pain was so severe it frequently necessitated hospitalisation. "I used to be hospitalised almost every month," she stated, highlighting the relentless nature of her struggle.
The actress pointed out that there is no permanent cure for adenomyosis. While hormonal medication is an option, she tries to avoid it due to the associated side effects. "Even today, I live with constant pain," Malti confessed. She also expressed frustration at the lack of understanding from others, both inside and outside the Bigg Boss house, often encountering dismissive attitudes towards her suffering.
A Childhood Marred by Conflict and Control
Malti's health battles were compounded by significant turmoil at home. She described a household filled with tension, where her parents fought constantly. As the elder sibling, she bore witness to these conflicts, while her brother Deepak's cricket career often kept him away from the strife.
Her relationship with her father was particularly strained. Malti revealed her father boycotted her until she completed her 12th grade after she expressed a desire to participate in Miss India and pursue a career in entertainment. He had wanted her to become an IPS officer instead. To curb her ambitions, she was subjected to strict controls, including being forced to maintain a boy-cut hairstyle until the 11th grade and having her freedom severely restricted.
"My father didn't have bad intentions, but I couldn't do anything I wanted," she clarified, offering a nuanced perspective on his actions.

The actress painted a vivid picture of the domestic environment, recalling that the family lived in a 1BHK apartment where escape during parental fights was impossible. "They never realised the impact it had on me," she said, noting that her parents had compatibility issues and have been living separately for the past 13 years.
Adding to her childhood woes was the experience of eve-teasing while living in Suratgarh, the small town where her father was posted. Fearful that reporting the harassment would lead to even harsher restrictions from her parents, Malti chose to endure it in silence. Reflecting on all these experiences, she concluded, "All of this makes me feel that I didn't have a good life after seventh grade."
