Malavika Mohanan described the filming of 'Pocket Novel' as the biggest highlight of her March. Taking to her Instagram handle, the actress, known for her role in 'Raja Saab', expressed profound admiration for her director. She wrote, "Filming for 'Pocket Novel' and being directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja has been an extraordinary experience." She further praised him as "one of the finest filmmakers of our generation," emphasizing that observing his creative process and receiving his guidance has been one of the most special creative journeys in her career thus far.
The Challenge of Being Away from Home
The shoot required Malavika to spend the majority of her time in Chennai, which presented significant emotional challenges. The actress, who also starred in 'Sardar 2', shared candidly about the difficulties of being away from home. "I spent most of the month in Chennai for the shoot. While the work itself was incredible, being away from home for so long hit me harder than I anticipated," she revealed. She elaborated on the loneliness that followed long workdays, stating, "Coming back to an empty room after a demanding day never gets easier."
Family Visit Brings Respite and Joy
A turning point came when her family visited her in Chennai. "When my family came to visit for a couple of days, it was like a respite for my spirit," Malavika expressed. The visit included trips to temples in Chennai and Mahabalipuram, as well as enjoying local cuisine together. She noted particular happiness because her grandmother, who rarely travels, was part of the visit. "Especially since my grandmother visited as well, which she rarely does," she shared, highlighting how this familial connection lifted her spirits during the taxing schedule.
Rediscovering Mumbai Through a Sunset Boat Ride
Upon completing her work in Chennai, Malavika returned to Mumbai, where a simple yet profound moment helped her reconnect with the city. She embarked on a peaceful sunset boat ride, which she described as a healing experience. "The sky was breathtaking, the ocean air healing, and the waves so soothing," she recounted. This serene evening allowed her to feel calm and happy again, leading her to declare, "That evening made me fall in love with Mumbai a little more." The actress found solace and a renewed appreciation for her home city after an emotionally draining period away.
