Lara Dutta Opens Up About Motherhood's Transformative Power
Bollywood actress Lara Dutta recently shared intimate thoughts about her journey through motherhood. She described the experience not as adding layers to her identity but as reshaping it completely. Speaking candidly, Dutta explained how becoming a mother brought a profound shift in her entire perspective on life.
Motherhood as a Great Leveller
"Motherhood honestly served as a great leveller for me," Lara Dutta revealed. "During those initial years, it completely takes away your sense of self. Everything stops being about you. It stopped being about me entirely, and became constantly about this other little person in my life."
She emphasized that this priority shift remains permanent. Now mother to thirteen-year-old daughter Saira Bhupathi, Dutta says the parenting experience has evolved dramatically over time.
Navigating the Teenage Years
"I've got a teenager on my hands now, and it's completely different," she admitted. "It's an absolutely different ball game. Today we share a very different relationship compared to when she was a young child."
Reflecting on her current role as a parent, Dutta expressed how the learning dynamic has reversed. "I feel like I'm learning so much more from her than what I'm able to teach her," she said. "My role now transforms more into that of a guide and mentor. I want to raise an incredible human being. My daughter teaches me valuable lessons every single day."
Entrepreneurial Journey Driven by Experience
Beyond motherhood, Lara Dutta discussed her entrepreneurial path with Arias, her beauty and wellness brand. She explained that her business vision emerged from lived experience rather than following market trends.
A Lifestyle Vision Born from Belief
"For me, this represents a lifestyle vision honestly born from a fundamental belief," Dutta explained. "I think beauty, fashion, lifestyle and wellness all interconnect as expressions of oneself. Over the last three years with Arias, I've thoughtfully tried to build products that empower women to embrace every facet of themselves."
She wants women to feel confident, inspired and beautiful through her offerings. Dutta specifically targets women in their thirties and forties who embrace new life chapters.
Focusing on Authenticity Over Trends
"These women approach life more thoughtfully," she observed. "They're independent and intentional. I don't believe they follow trends blindly. Instead, they seek authenticity and meaning in whatever they do today."
On what entrepreneurship truly means to her, Dutta clarified it isn't about selling products. "For me as an entrepreneur, I'm not trying to sell," she stated firmly. "I'm not attempting to be a businesswoman who simply creates products to sell to people. The core idea involves adding genuine value to someone's life."
Understanding Women Through Decades
Dutta shared insights from working with women across different life stages. "I've had opportunities to work with women through every decade," she noted. "Your requirements, outlook and thought process change with each decade you enter. As you mature, you start looking beyond trends or product features. You begin searching for real value in everything."
Her entrepreneurial philosophy centers on this understanding of women's evolving needs through life's various phases.
