Armaan Jain Reveals Kapoor Family Secrets in Dining With the Kapoors
Kapoor Family Resilience Revealed in New Streaming Show

The iconic Kapoor family is currently making headlines with their recently streamed show 'Dining With the Kapoors', created by Armaan Jain and directed by Smriti Mundra. This unique series offers viewers an intimate look into the culinary traditions and family bonding that define one of Bollywood's most celebrated dynasties.

The Kapoor Resilience DNA

In a recent exclusive interview, Armaan Jain, who happens to be Raj Kapoor's grandson through his daughter Rima Jain, shared profound insights about the family's remarkable ability to overcome adversity. He specifically referenced how the Kapoor clan has been dealing with recent tragedies including Sanjay Kapur's demise and the attack on Saif Ali Khan.

Armaan drew parallels to his legendary grandfather's experience after the commercial failure of 'Mera Naam Joker'. Raj Kapoor had invested his hard-earned money completely in this project, which was considered way ahead of its time and became one of the biggest disasters of that era.

'Raj Kapoor would eat, breathe, and sleep cinema. That was it for him,' Armaan revealed during his conversation with Screen. 'He would put everything on the line. The sacrifices would be so much that sometimes, he wouldn't even have enough money in his pocket to make a movie.'

Despite losing virtually everything financially before bouncing back with Bobby in 1973, Raj Kapoor ensured he never compromised on providing shelter for his wife and children, maintaining their Deonar bungalow through all difficulties.

Carrying Forward a Legacy Through Food

Armaan, who never had the opportunity to meet his legendary grandfather personally, has discovered Raj Kapoor's world through stories passed down by family members. Raj Kapoor passed away when Armaan was just two years old, creating what he describes as a 'certain void' that has fueled his curiosity about his grandfather's life and personality.

'What I know of him is from stories I have heard from my grandmother, the late Krishna Kapoor, and mostly my mother, who spent a lot of time with him growing up,' Armaan shared. 'They were very close. They had a father-daughter relationship, but also a sibling relationship which was very open.'

This emotional connection inspired Armaan to create 'Dining With the Kapoors' as both a tribute to Raj Kapoor on his 100th birth anniversary and as a way to celebrate the family's food legacy that has been passed down through generations.

Kapoor Family Food Secrets Revealed

The show doesn't just explore historical family dynamics but also reveals contemporary insights about current Kapoor generation members. Armaan settled the burning question about which Kapoor sister has the bigger appetite between Kareena and Karisma.

'Karisma eats a lot more than Kareena,' he confessed. 'I don't know how. She is so lucky because of her metabolism. Kareena is also a big foodie.'

He explained that the current Kapoor generation maintains their food indulgence through disciplined fitness routines. 'This generation is so diligent and a little up to speed with working out. All of us work out maybe twice or thrice a day so that we can enjoy that meal.'

Armaan emphasized that food remains at the heart of Kapoor family gatherings, serving as the binding force that has kept the family connected through generations. The show captures this essence perfectly, showcasing how food, family, and resilience form the core of the Kapoor identity.

Through 'Dining With the Kapoors', audiences get to experience the warmth, traditions, and unbreakable bonds that have made the Kapoor family an enduring symbol of Bollywood royalty while honoring the legacy of the great Raj Kapoor in his centenary year.
