Popular comedian and actor Kapil Sharma has marked a bold international expansion for his hospitality venture, opening a new outlet of Kap's Cafe in Dubai. This move comes despite a challenging start for his first cafe in Surrey, Canada, which was targeted in three separate firing incidents last year.
From Canada to the Gulf: A Resilient Expansion
Kapil Sharma ventured into the food and beverage industry in 2025 with the launch of Kap's Cafe in Surrey, Canada. However, the venture faced severe adversity when the outlet was attacked by gunfire on three occasions between July and October 2025. Reports indicated the attacks were potentially linked to remarks made by the comedian. Following the incidents, the cafe's team released a statement on Instagram affirming their resilience: "We're processing this shock, but we're not giving up. Violence won't silence our spirit or our community."
Undeterred by these events, Kapil has now launched his brand in the Middle East. The Dubai outlet opened its doors recently, with Kapil sharing the news on social media. In a celebratory video, he was seen dancing while holding coffee cups. The announcement caption warmly invited patrons: "From our hearts to Dubai, Kap's Cafe opens its doors tomorrow. Warm lights, cozy corners, and smiles waiting to welcome you."
A Peek Inside the Dubai Cafe: Ambience and Personal Touches
A sneak peek provided by Curly Tales revealed the Dubai cafe's elegant white-and-pink-themed decor, accentuated by luxurious chandeliers. The menu is designed to offer comfort food, featuring a mix of cafe classics and dishes that Kapil personally enjoys. Notably, adding a signature personal touch, Kapil has included his favourite jaggery-infused lime juice on the menu.
The launch garnered congratulations from fellow comedians and celebrities. Bharti Singh and Kiku Sharda congratulated Kapil and his wife Ginni Chatrath, while Ravi Dubey reacted with heart and fire emojis on the post. However, a fan also pointed out a practical concern, commenting on the Instagram announcement about a significant parking shortage in the area, which prevented their visit on opening day.
Kapil's Response to Adversity and Current Projects
Addressing the firing incidents at his Canadian cafe during the trailer launch of his film 'Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2', Kapil Sharma displayed a philosophical outlook. He stated, "What I feel is that the rules are there, and the police, perhaps, don't have the power to control. But when our case happened, it went to the federal government, and there was a discussion in the Canadian parliament. In fact, after every incident, we got a bigger opening at the cafe. So it is ok with me if god is with me."
On the work front, Kapil Sharma continues to host the fourth season of 'The Great Indian Kapil Show' on Netflix India. The show has already featured guests like Priyanka Chopra and the Indian Women's cricket team, with an upcoming episode starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday. His recent film, 'Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2', underperformed at the box office but is scheduled for a re-release in January.
