The much-anticipated Bollywood romantic comedy 'Mere Raho', starring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi, will not be hitting screens this December as originally planned. In a strategic move reportedly spearheaded by superstar Aamir Khan, the film's release has been officially pushed to the summer of 2026.
The Strategic Decision Behind the Delay
According to industry reports, Aamir Khan, who is closely involved in the project, took charge of the film's promotional and marketing strategy. A source revealed that the decision to move away from the crowded December 2025 slot was a calculated one. The original release date was December 12, 2025, but it will now arrive in the summer corridor of 2026.
The insider pointed out that December is a high-pressure period for film releases. The month was already set to see the big-budget film 'Dhurandhar' and another major rom-com, Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday's 'Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri'. To avoid a clash and ensure better distribution and exhibition opportunities, the team chose to postpone.
Why Summer 2026 is a Better Fit
The source elaborated on the rationale, stating that July offers superior conditions for a film like 'Mere Raho'. The summer corridor provides the movie with the necessary "legroom" to grow. It requires time to build repeat value and benefits from a controlled screen density, free from the intense competition of the festive holiday rush.
"The summer corridor allows the film to breathe without the noise that comes with the festive and holiday rush," the source added, highlighting the commercial wisdom behind the shift.
What We Know About 'Mere Raho'
'Mere Raho' is a significant project for its lead actors. It will mark Junaid Khan's second theatrical release after his debut in 'Loveyapa' earlier this year. For acclaimed South Indian actress Sai Pallavi, this film represents her official Bollywood debut.
The film is directed by Sunil Pandey and is a remake of the popular Thai movie 'One Day'. Interestingly, the project was shot against the picturesque, snowy backdrop of Sapporo, Japan. Although the post-production work was completed as early as April this year, the makers have been holding back on releasing any promotional material. The official marketing campaign is expected to commence in the coming months, with a firm release date to be announced soon.
Meanwhile, both actors have other major projects in the pipeline. Sai Pallavi is also set to play the role of Goddess Sita in director Nitesh Tiwari's epic 'Ramayana', starring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash. Junaid Khan is looking to build on his debut with this next venture.
