Jenna Ortega Opens Up About Auditioning for Hereditary Role

In a recent candid conversation, actress Jenna Ortega shared a fascinating glimpse into her early career, revealing that she once auditioned for a part in the acclaimed horror film Hereditary but did not secure the role. According to a report by PEOPLE, Ortega discussed this missed opportunity during an appearance on Kid Cudi's podcast, offering insights into her mindset at the time and her perspective on rejection in Hollywood.

The Audition Experience and Reflection

Ortega explained that she auditioned for the film back in 2018, but later came to understand why she wasn't selected. "I think I auditioned for Hereditary, which obviously wouldn't have made any sense, especially for, like, my disposition as a kid, so I understood," she said, as per PEOPLE. The role she tried out for eventually went to another actor, and the film, directed by Ari Aster, went on to become a well-known horror hit. Ortega later watched it in theaters and had a memorable reaction. "Then it came out, and we went to the theater. I sat up in my chair and I looked at my mom and I said, 'This is the one that I said was going to be in.' You know, we didn't even realize that [is what we were seeing]. But incredible movie. It's funny to think that I went in for that because again, I just didn't make any sense for it," she recounted.

Dealing with Rejection and Career Resilience

Ortega also spoke about how she handles rejection in her acting career, emphasizing a positive outlook. She shared that she has always taken such moments in stride, believing that things happen at the right time. "I never really question it. I didn't want to get in my head about that sort of thing, and what's meant to be mine will come to me or, you know, I'll find somehow," she said. This philosophy has helped her navigate the competitive industry, where setbacks are common.

Moments of Doubt and Career Crossroads

During the same podcast conversation, Ortega opened up about a period when she considered leaving acting altogether. After working on children's shows, she reached a stage of uncertainty about her future. "I didn't know what else I was gonna do. I've never really considered anything else, more so recently, just out of sake of curiosity and wanting another life experience. But when I was a teenager, I'd gotten off a children's show, and I didn't know what I was going to do. I had to prove myself and meet all these new casting directors who didn't know who I was. It just felt like a good time to call it quits if I was going to," she explained. Despite these doubts, Ortega persevered and has since become one of Hollywood's popular young actors, known for her roles in films and series, including the hit show Wednesday.

Her journey highlights the challenges and resilience required in the entertainment industry, offering inspiration to aspiring actors facing similar hurdles.
