JD Majethia and Wife Nipa Celebrate 29 Years with Emotional Vow Renewal Ceremony

In a heartwarming celebration of enduring love, renowned television producer and actor JD Majethia and his wife Nipa renewed their wedding vows on March 11, nearly three decades after their original marriage in 1997. The intimate ceremony, filled with emotional moments and family participation, allowed the couple to experience rituals they had missed during their initial court marriage.

From Court Marriage to Traditional Celebration

JD Majethia, best known for creating the popular sitcom Khichdi, revealed that their original 1997 wedding was a simple court marriage followed by temple blessings in Mathura. "It was completely different," Majethia explained. "Back then, we had a court marriage and then visited a temple in Mathura for blessings. After just three days, we left for America for the tour of our Gujarati play where we were both working together at that time."

The recent ceremony provided the couple with the traditional elements they had missed, particularly the exchange of vows and the sacred pheras (circumambulations around the sacred fire) that form the core of Hindu wedding rituals. "We took vows which we couldn't take earlier," Majethia shared. "All our vows were interesting, and some of them were funny too, but we knew we had fulfilled most of them over the years."

Daughters Orchestrate Emotional Celebration

The vow renewal ceremony was meticulously planned by the couple's daughters, who became integral to the celebration. "My wife always regretted that we didn't do our pheras three decades ago. I could always see that," Majethia confessed. "Both my daughters planned this ceremony along with her. I was a little conscious initially, but I am happy we did it."

Their younger daughter Misri demonstrated particular enthusiasm for the preparations. "My younger daughter, Misri, was equally excited as my wife. She made invitation cards and took part in every plan—my wife herself was almost the wedding planner of her own wedding," Majethia revealed.

The most poignant moment came when Misri used artificial intelligence technology to create a special tribute. "My daughter made a picture with the help of AI of both of our dads, who have passed away, with a note saying they are attending the wedding and blessing us. It made us very emotional and happy," Majethia shared.

Intimate Gathering Marks New Beginning

The ceremony remained deliberately intimate, with only close family members and mutual friends in attendance. "It was a very intimate event with very few family members from both sides and our common friends," Majethia noted.

Reflecting on the emotional significance of the occasion, Majethia expressed how the experience rejuvenated their relationship. "After being married for 29 years, renewing our vows felt like beginning our married life all over again," he said, capturing the essence of their celebration that blended tradition, technology, and family love into a memorable milestone.
