Jay Bhanushali, Mahhi Vij separate after 14 years of marriage

In a significant development from the Indian entertainment world, television actors Jay Bhanushali and Mahhi Vij have officially announced the end of their marriage. The couple, who tied the knot in 2012, revealed their decision to part ways on January 4, 2026, marking the conclusion of a 14-year union.

An Amicable Parting With No Villains

In a heartfelt joint statement, Bhanushali and Vij emphasised that their separation is amicable and devoid of any blame. They explicitly stated that there is no villain in their story. The primary drivers behind their decision were a mutual desire for peace, respect, and sanity. The announcement came shortly after the pair had indirectly addressed swirling rumours about a rift in their relationship, choosing to clarify matters directly with their audience.

Mahhi Vij's Stance on Alimony Rumours

Weeks before the formal separation news broke, Mahhi Vij took to her personal vlog to address rampant speculation, particularly concerning alimony worth Rs 5 crore. The actor expressed her personal views on the concept, stating that the idea of alimony feels off to her when the woman is capable of working.

"I don't even understand what alimony is," Vij said. She elaborated from a woman's perspective, noting, "I think it is not our right. It is earned by him, and it is his money." She clarified that while financial support is permissible for housewives or women who have never worked, she believes capable women should stand on their own. "You can work. I think you should get up, work, and earn for yourself. Because when the paths separate, you should earn for yourself," she firmly stated.

Focus on Co-Parenting and Future Friendship

The former couple's primary concern remains the well-being of their children. In their statement, they confirmed they will have shared custody of their kids—Tara, Khushi, and Rajveer. They pledged to be the best possible parents and friends to their children despite the change in their own relationship.

Their joint statement read: "For the sake of our children—Tara, Khushi, and Rajveer—we pledge to be the best parents, friends, and whatever else is necessary to do what’s right for them. Though we are walking separate paths, there are no villains in this story, and no negativity attached to our decision."

They further assured fans and well-wishers that they continue to respect and support each other and will remain friends. The couple appealed for love, respect, and understanding from the public as they navigate this new chapter in their lives, choosing peace over any potential drama.
