Jason Derulo Retires 'One Version' of Himself on Last Dance Tour

American singer and performer Jason Derulo has made a significant announcement about his artistic journey, revealing that he intends to retire "one version" of himself. This revelation came during discussions about his upcoming Last Dance Tour, which the artist describes as a pivotal moment in his career.

The Curtain Call for a Familiar Jason

In an interview with The Sun newspaper, Derulo elaborated on what this tour represents for him. "It's my last bow," he stated. "It's the curtain call for the Jason that you've always known. But it's a celebration of the past and an introduction to what is to come. So it is a retirement of one version of me and the start of a new one."

The singer emphasized that this transition is not about leaving music behind, but rather about evolving his artistic identity. He feels he has undergone substantial personal growth over the last decade, and he wants his musical output to reflect this transformation.

A Decade of Evolution

"I'm a different human being than I was ten years ago," Derulo explained. "The music slowly does the same. It slowly starts to morph into something different and I want to do something completely different."

He outlined how the Last Dance Tour will serve as a bridge between his past and future. "This first part is a bow to what I've done in the past and should feel nostalgic and have elements of me throughout the years. And the next half will be that dramatic change."

Drawing Inspiration from Low Moments

Meanwhile, the 'Talk Dirty To Me' and 'Ridin' Solo' hitmaker shared that his journey toward self-improvement has been fueled by challenging times. He revealed that setbacks and difficult periods have actually served as powerful motivation for his ambitions.

"My downfalls and when I have low moments, those moments really drive me," Derulo confessed. "At my lowest lows, it's like, 'Dang, I gotta really sink my teeth in and just go for gold.'"

The artist explained that self-improvement has been his driving force "for a very long time," using personal challenges as fuel to push himself further in his career and personal development.

The Gym as a Lifesaver

Derulo also opened up about how physical fitness has played a crucial role in managing his personal struggles. He described the gym as an essential outlet for processing emotions and releasing pent-up energy.

"The gym is a perfect place to let off the steam because you can go as hard as you need to go," he told E!'s digital series DRIVE!. "When you just wanna scream inside and you wanna just, like, 'Ahh, I can't believe this is happening,' you can put all of that energy into the weight. And I think, for me, the gym has been a lifesaver."

This holistic approach to personal transformation—combining artistic evolution with physical and emotional wellness—appears to be central to Derulo's journey as he prepares to retire one chapter of his career while eagerly anticipating the next.
