Jasmine Sandlas Opens Up About Personal Struggles Amid Professional Success
While singer Jasmine Sandlas has recently garnered significant attention for her powerful musical contributions to the films 'Dhurandhar' and 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge', she has now chosen to share a deeply personal chapter of her life that extends far beyond her professional achievements. In a candid and emotional interview, the artist has revealed her intense battle with alcoholism, detailing the emotional turmoil that led her down that path and the crucial support system that guided her toward recovery.
The Descent into Alcoholism and Emotional Turmoil
Jasmine Sandlas disclosed that she began drinking at the age of 23, a decision she attributes to seeking solace during a particularly challenging period in her life. During a conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia, she reflected, "Before that, I used to abstain from it, but when life hits you, you look for support." Looking back on those years, she expressed profound regret over her actions during that two to three-year span of heavy drinking.
"I do regret some things I did in those 2-3 years when I was drinking," Jasmine admitted. "A lot of things piled up, I was famous on one side, I was feeling certain things, my family dynamics broke apart, my father was no more, and I was successful. I drank more than I should have, and I regret it, but it was important for me at that time." This period was marked by a complex mix of professional success and personal grief, creating a perfect storm that led her to rely on alcohol as a coping mechanism.
Roots in Childhood Trauma and Unresolved Pain
When questioned about what initially drove her toward alcohol in her twenties, Jasmine traced the origins back to unresolved emotional wounds from her childhood. She revealed, "I had some heartbreaks in childhood from my parents. They broke my heart unknowingly many times, so there is resentment. I love them, but when a child's heart breaks, it remains broken."
This deep-seated pain created a lifelong search for comfort and security. "When you don't have a safe space to run to, you look for a home in everything like crazy," she explained. "I did that all my life, just yearning and finding home." Despite being constantly surrounded by people during her drinking days, Jasmine described experiencing profound loneliness. "It all looks wonderful from outside, expensive liquor, people laughing, there were always people around me, but I used to sit on the balcony alone. There was a lot of loneliness in that crowd, but I didn't know what to do or where else to go."
The Path to Recovery and Family Support
Speaking about her journey toward sobriety, Jasmine Sandlas emphasized the indispensable role her family played in her recovery process. "My mom and my family really helped me in that [recovery], they loved me through my rock bottoms," she shared gratefully. "My biggest fight was with myself."
Breaking free from established patterns proved to be an immense challenge. She recounted, "The day starts, and you fall into your old habits. I prayed so much to God, 'Please save me, just give me one more chance'. I was so helpless. You just need the strength to say no to things." Jasmine highlighted the critical importance of maintaining family connections during such struggles. "Family support is very important; don't shun them," she advised. "When I got rid of toxins in my life, I felt like I had been given a new life."
Professional Contributions and Current Projects
On the professional front, Jasmine Sandlas continues to make significant contributions to the music industry. She has lent her vocal talents to several tracks for the recent films, including 'Jaiye Sajana' in collaboration with Satinder Sartaaj, as well as 'Aari Aari' and 'Main Aur Tu'. These projects demonstrate her ongoing commitment to her craft while she navigates her personal healing journey.
By sharing her story, Jasmine Sandlas joins a growing number of public figures who are breaking the silence around mental health and addiction issues. Her openness about both her struggles and her recovery serves as a powerful reminder of the human experiences that often remain hidden behind public personas, while also highlighting the transformative power of familial love and support during life's most challenging moments.
