After a prolonged absence from the public eye, Bollywood actor Imran Khan has made a gradual return to social media, much to the delight of his fans. The actor, celebrated for roles in films like ‘Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na’, ‘I Hate Luv Storys’, and ‘Delhi Belly’, recently sparked nostalgia by sharing a heartfelt behind-the-scenes memory from his 2012 romantic comedy.
A Nostalgic Throwback with a Personal Tale
In September, Imran Khan took to Instagram to post a still from the film ‘Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu’. However, this was more than just a throwback picture. Accompanied by a lengthy and candid note, the actor shared an emotional story from the filming of the movie's climax, offering fans a rare glimpse into his experiences.
Imran explained the context of the scene, where his character finally confronts his parents during a fancy dinner party. “My character in EMAET had a difficult relationship with his father, never able to assert himself and express his true feelings,” he wrote. He admitted that the scene was challenging and that he was anxious to deliver his best performance, given the emotional intensity required.
The Generous Gesture from a Co-Star
The heart of Imran's story revolves around an unexpected act of kindness from his senior co-star, Boman Irani. Imran revealed a common industry practice where senior actors often leave the set once their shots are completed, leaving juniors to perform with stand-ins. “I can't tell you the number of scenes I've shot with stand-ins for the big men,” he noted.
This made Boman Irani's subsequent action all the more special. On the day of shooting the crucial dinner scene, Imran was in his vanity van when Boman knocked on the door. “It was @boman_irani asking if I would like to rehearse with him! I was thrilled, of course,” Imran recalled.
He described how Boman patiently ran through the entire scene with him, pointing out layers of subtext, pushing and encouraging him. Even during the actual shoot, Boman stood behind the camera, delivering his cues with extra passion to help Imran's performance. “He may have played a callous, insensitive character in the film... but to me he was one of the most generous actors I've had the pleasure to work with. A true gentleman,” Imran concluded warmly.
Remembering 'Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu'
The film ‘Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu’ is a Hindi romantic comedy directed by Shakun Batra. It features Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor in lead roles, with a supporting cast including Ratna Pathak Shah, Boman Irani, and Ram Kapoor. Imran Khan's social media post has not only revived memories of the film but also shed light on the mentoring and camaraderie that exists behind the glamorous facade of Bollywood. His candid sharing underscores the impact of supportive colleagues in an actor's journey, making this throwback a truly touching revelation for his audience.
