Imran Khan Opens Up About Healing Journey with Daughter and Partner

Bollywood actor Imran Khan has shared heartfelt insights into his personal healing journey. He emphasized how his daughter Imara and girlfriend Lekha Washington have played crucial roles in his recovery from mental health struggles.

The Power of Love and Support

In a recent interview with NDTV, Khan described the transformative impact of love in his life. "To be loved by someone truly gives you strength and heals you," he stated. "To give love truthfully and selflessly to another also is empowering and healing."

The actor specifically highlighted how his relationship with Lekha Washington and his bond with daughter Imara have contributed to his well-being. "I have found this, in between my daughter and my partner Lekha, to give and to receive love," Khan explained. "It has been absolutely crucial to my healing and to my own growth and well-being."

Therapy and Personal Progress

Khan also discussed the importance of professional therapy in his recovery process. He noted significant improvement over the past several years. "The last few years in particular, every year has been better than the last," he revealed. "The last five-six years have been just better and better."

The actor connected his personal progress with renewed professional motivation. "The last couple of years have kind of coincided with me feeling very settled within myself and feeling a desire to work," he added.

Fatherhood as Transformative Experience

Khan spoke passionately about his experience as a father to Imara. Following her birth, he deliberately stepped back from his acting career to focus on parenting. "I put her to bed. I would feed her. Even now, I just got back from picking her up from school," he shared.

The actor finds deep meaning in these daily parenting activities. "I do all of that stuff because it gives me great joy and a sense of purpose and value," Khan explained. "And it seems, by and large, to me to be the best use of my time."

Balancing Work and Parenting

Khan acknowledged the challenges of balancing professional commitments with fatherhood. He described making deliberate choices to prioritize time with his daughter. "It means that then I would miss a day with her. Basically, it takes a lot to get me to give up on that," he said.

Even during recent film projects, Khan adjusted his schedule whenever possible. "Even this past year, while I was making Adhoore Hum, Adhoore Tum, it was about a three-month shoot," he noted. "And, wherever I could, I would try to adjust my dates and my timings to not miss time with her."

Addressing Public Speculation

The actor also touched upon public speculation about his health that emerged in recent years. When photographs showed him gaining weight, rumors about drug abuse circulated widely. Khan addressed these directly on social media.

"When I was photographed, it sparked a media discussion about my wellbeing, and speculations of drug abuse!" he wrote in an Instagram post. "I felt deeply ashamed, embarrassed to be seen by anyone in this state. So I retreated further."

Khan emphasized his current positive health journey. "It's been an uphill journey, but these days I'm doing better than ever," he shared. "I exercise with my old friend who puts my health first and only feeds me supplements like walnuts and turmeric... seriously."

The actor maintains a healthy perspective about his physical transformation. "While I'm still a tad jealous of those dudes with superhero muscles... I don't feel bad about myself," he concluded with humor.
