Hansal Mehta and Sahil Saigal Unveil Expansive Entertainment Slate
Filmmaker Hansal Mehta and producer Sahil Saigal are significantly broadening their creative portfolio with an ambitious mix of major Hindi films, regional cinema, and series productions. Their company, established in January 2025, has recently disclosed several new titles, showcasing a strategic push across diverse genres and languages. This move highlights their commitment to innovative storytelling in the Indian entertainment industry.
Key Projects in the Pipeline
Among the most prominent announcements is Pralay, a post-apocalyptic thriller starring Ranveer Singh and directed by Jai Mehta. The film is currently in active pre-production and is being co-produced with Singh's own banner. Hansal Mehta emphasized the groundbreaking nature of this project, stating, "It's the kind of film that India hasn't made yet, the kind of film that India hasn't seen before." An international crew has been assembled, with filming scheduled to commence later this year, promising a cinematic experience on an unprecedented scale.
Diverse Film Lineup Revealed
The new slate includes Porbandar, an action film that Hansal Mehta will direct himself. Named after the Gujarati coastal city associated with Mahatma Gandhi, Mehta noted a stark contrast, explaining, "On one side you have the Mahatma from Porbandar, and on the other side you have this actioner." A studio deal for this project is nearing finalization. Additionally, Kehar Singh, directed by Ajitpal Singh of 'Fire in the Mountains' fame, is described as a spectacle film, though further details are pending.
Another intriguing title is Mehfooz, a cannibalistic horror project that has completed development and already secured a studio attachment. The company is currently seeking a director for this venture. Mehta outlined their production approach, saying, "We invest money in developing the film, get it all ready before we pitch to a studio, and then get a director on board."
Regional and Series Ventures
Beyond Hindi cinema, the company is actively supporting regional projects. These include the Gujarati film Sardar Asardar and the Punjabi independent feature Hanere de Panchi. In collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios, they are producing Dilkashi, directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery in his Hindi debut, featuring music by A.R. Rahman.
On the series front, the company has co-produced Netflix's Family Business and is developing another show, underscoring their versatility across formats. This expansion reflects a holistic strategy to cater to varied audience preferences and tap into emerging markets within the entertainment landscape.
