Govinda Opens Up on Career and Personal Life Allegations
Bollywood veteran Govinda has sparked widespread discussion with a revealing interview where he tackled multiple allegations concerning his professional choices and personal conduct. The actor, known for his energetic performances, directly responded to claims that he exclusively favors heroic roles, sharing a personal anecdote from his wife Sunita Ahuja.
Addressing Claims of Role Refusal
In a bold statement to ANI, Govinda countered the narrative that he avoids non-heroic parts. "They are telling me that you don't want to play roles other than heroic. So what did I do in Khil Dil? I played a villain," he asserted. He recalled Sunita telling him, "You eat up whatever work you do," and addressed perceptions that he resents others' success, adding that some claim he cannot bear to see anyone else reach the top.
Govinda emphasized his work ethic, stating, "I did whatever work I got." He reflected on the film industry's nature, noting, "This film industry is such that you can never connect it to casteism, society, or any other issue. You have to converse with people in the language they understand."
Exit from Bhagam Bhag 2 Confirmed
These remarks follow confirmed reports that Govinda is no longer part of the upcoming sequel Bhagam Bhag 2, with Manoj Bajpayee reportedly replacing him. Co-star Paresh Rawal confirmed the departure to Bollywood Hungama, expressing uncertainty about the reasons. "I have genuinely no idea. However, we'll miss Govinda," Rawal commented briefly.
Released in 2006, the original Bhagam Bhag was a hit comedy directed by Priyadarshan, starring Akshay Kumar, Govinda, and Paresh Rawal. Fans have expressed disappointment over Govinda's exit from the sequel, which has generated significant buzz in Bollywood circles.
Responding to Extramarital Affair Rumors
Beyond his career, Govinda also addressed persistent rumors about his marriage. Dismissing extramarital affair speculations, the Hero No 1 actor told ANI, "When haven't I been accused? In the beginning, my hands were too shaky to touch girls... My love life never worked out well." He highlighted his professional conduct with co-stars, stating, "I have worked with Miss Universe heroines. I have never looked at them. Not a single heroine of mine can say that I ever harassed or used such abusive language against anyone."
Govinda credited his success to collaborative efforts, saying, "I especially thank all the artists and heroines. My films have been successful and have been successful year after year, thanks to the support of the music directors, the songs, and my heroines." He attributed his respectful behavior to his mother's background as a heroine, noting he never misbehaves with any female co-star.
Recent Work and Family Dynamics
On the professional front, Govinda was last seen in Rangeela Raja, which failed to impress audiences. He has yet to announce his next project. Meanwhile, his wife Sunita Ahuja has alleged that the actor is surrounded by 'yes men' who lack honesty in feedback. She has urged him to lose weight and explore diverse roles beyond solo-hero films.
Additionally, Govinda reacted to Ahuja's claims that he is not supporting their son's Bollywood debut, clarifying his priorities. "I left politics for my family as I did not want political life to hamper my family life and have an adverse effect on my children," he explained, underscoring his commitment to his family's well-being amidst ongoing public scrutiny.
