Gaurav Gera Reveals Aditya Dhar's Unique Directing Approach on 'Dhurandhar'
Actor Gaurav Gera, known for his role as undercover agent Aalam in the blockbuster film 'Dhurandhar', has opened up about his experience collaborating with director Aditya Dhar. In a candid interview, Gera described Dhar as one of the most calm, evolved, and intellectually sorted filmmakers he has ever worked with, offering a refreshing contrast to the high-pressure environments he has encountered in the past.
Aditya Dhar's Clarity of Thought Leaves Gaurav Gera Inspired
During a conversation with India Today, Gaurav Gera spoke warmly about how Aditya Dhar's public words resonated with him on a deeply personal level. He felt as though the director was speaking directly to him during a speech about the film industry's challenges and transformative moments. "This man is so evolved, you know; he has clarity of thought. You will get to know that by listening to his talks. I remember, he was giving a speech somewhere or was at an event on stage. He spoke about the industry and how at times you feel it's not for you, and then one moment changes everything. I felt like he was talking to me directly. That's the beauty of this man," Gera shared.
He also extended his admiration to Dhar's wife, actress Yami Gautam, praising both as grounded individuals. "I feel intellectually they are very, very sorted people," he added, highlighting their composed nature in the often chaotic world of Bollywood.
Aditya Dhar's Unusual Calm on the Film Set Surprises Gaurav Gera
For Gaurav Gera, a particular moment on the 'Dhurandhar' set stood out as a perfect example of the director's composed leadership style. Despite overseeing a massive production with a large cast and high stakes, Dhar remained visibly unbothered. "He did it all so easily. I remember once on set, when we were shooting the Lyari scene, and he was casually scrolling on his phone. I asked him if this is such a big film with such a huge cast and so much happening. Don't you get tense? He just smiled and said, 'I have a great team; I have nothing to worry about,'" the actor recalled.
Gera drew a sharp contrast between Dhar's approach and his experiences with other filmmakers over the years, noting that many resort to shouting or abusive behavior on set. "I remember this because I have often seen many filmmakers doing chillam chilli (shouting). I have seen a lot of abusive directors. But here is a man who was so chilled because he trusts his team. He is always smiling and very soft-spoken. Even now, look at him, crediting all his teammates on social media," Gera elaborated, emphasizing the lasting impression Dhar's manner left on him.
