FIR Registered Against 'Yadav Ji Ki Love Story' Team in Sambhal Following Community Protests
In a significant development, an FIR has been officially registered against the producer, director, and lead actors of the upcoming film 'Yadav Ji Ki Love Story' in Sambhal. This legal action comes in response to widespread protests organized by members of the Yadav community and several political groups who have expressed strong objections to the film's content. The movie, which has generated considerable controversy, is currently slated for a theatrical release on February 27.
Legal Charges and Police Investigation
Superintendent of Police KK Bishnoi confirmed that the FIR names film producer Sandeep Tomar, director Ankit Bhadana, and actors Pragati Tiwari and Vishal Mohan. The accused have been booked under BNS Section 353(2), which pertains to promoting enmity or ill-will between different groups in society. "We have issued formal notices to all the accused individuals, instructing them to join the investigation process without delay. Our team is expediting the probe to ensure a thorough examination ahead of the film's scheduled release date. At this stage, it remains unclear where exactly the movie was shot," stated Bishnoi during a press briefing.
Community Complaint and Allegations
The case originated from a formal complaint filed by Arvind Yadav (25), a local resident of Sambhal. In his complaint, Yadav alleged that the film "misrepresents the cultural values and traditions of the Yadav community and has the potential to disturb social harmony." He elaborated further, explaining, "The trailer of the film depicts a young girl from our community engaging in a romantic relationship with a man belonging to a different religion. While the narrative is presented as a work of fiction, it deeply hurts the sentiments of our community members. We firmly believe that such portrayals can create misunderstandings and convey inappropriate messages within society. We are demanding an immediate ban on the release and screening of this film to prevent any possible disturbance to social harmony."
Lead Actor's Response and Defense
Meanwhile, actor Pragati Tiwari, who plays a leading role in the film, expressed that she is "deeply hurt" by the ongoing protests and allegations. She emphasized that her intention was never to comment on or offend any community. "This film is purely a fictional romantic love triangle story. It does not promote or disrespect any caste, religion, or community. The project has been officially certified for public release by the Central Board of Film Certification, and the title is properly registered with the Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association," Tiwari clarified.
In a detailed social media post, she added, "As a professional actor, my primary responsibility is to portray the character written for me with complete honesty and integrity. I was not involved in the writing process or the titling of the film, but I stand by the fact that the story itself does not intend to cause harm or division. I sincerely respect all communities and humbly request people to watch the full film before forming any definitive opinions."
Broader Implications and Industry Context
This incident highlights the ongoing tensions between creative expression and community sensitivities within the Indian film industry. The use of legal provisions like BNS Section 353(2) in such cases underscores the delicate balance filmmakers must maintain. With the release date approaching, the situation remains fluid, and further developments are anticipated as investigations proceed and community dialogues continue.
