In a surprising revelation from Bollywood's past, veteran actress Farah Naaz has opened up about how her younger sister, acclaimed actress Tabu, played an unexpected role in her marriage to actor Vindu Dara Singh. The fascinating story details how a simple movie outing turned into a life-changing encounter that led to marriage and eventually divorce.
The Fateful Meeting That Started It All
According to Farah Naaz's account from an old interview, the story began when her younger sister Tabu, feeling irritable at home one day, insisted that Farah take her out to watch a movie. Despite initial resistance, Farah eventually agreed and they decided to watch the popular film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.
However, their plans hit a roadblock when they couldn't secure tickets at the theater. Just as Farah was preparing to leave disappointed, Tabu suddenly spotted someone familiar and excitedly greeted him with "Hi Vindu, hi!" Farah, who didn't recognize the young man, felt immediately nervous about the encounter.
Tabu quickly made introductions, telling Farah, "Farah Baji, this is Vindu. He's my classmate and a very big fan of yours." Upon learning about their ticket dilemma, Vindu immediately sprang into action and arranged tickets for them, marking the first-ever meeting between Farah and Vindu.
The Bold Proposal and Unconventional Courtship
About a month after their chance encounter, the real pursuit began. Farah was on a film set when Vindu arrived with his classmates, who coincidentally were also Tabu's batchmates from her dance class. In a move that stunned everyone present, Vindu walked straight up to Farah with almost no prior interaction and asked bluntly, "When are we getting married?"
Farah was completely taken aback by his boldness and questioned him immediately, saying "I've met you once, who are you?" Unfazed by her reaction, Vindu decided to take a different approach to win her over.
Tabu as the Unwitting Messenger
When his direct approach didn't work, Vindu cleverly changed his strategy and began wooing Tabu instead. Farah revealed that Vindu would often tell her sister, "I am in love with your sister," effectively using Tabu as his messenger and intermediary.
Initially nervous and unsure about the situation, Tabu gradually softened toward Vindu and eventually told Farah that he was a "good guy." This endorsement from her younger sister unknowingly strengthened Vindu's case and played a crucial role in changing Farah's perception.
Farah concluded the story by explaining that Vindu's persistence, combined with his efforts through her sister, eventually wore down her resistance. She finally "gave it up," leading to their unexpected marriage in 1996.
The marriage resulted in the birth of their son, Fateh, but ultimately ended in divorce in 2002. Farah Naaz, known for her roles in films like 'Yateem' and 'Naseeb Apna Apna', has always maintained privacy about her personal life, making this revelation about her marriage and Tabu's role in it particularly significant for Bollywood enthusiasts.
