Farah Khan Opens Up About Her Relationships with Bollywood's Three Khans
For decades, Bollywood has been dominated by its three iconic superstars: Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan. Choreographer and director Farah Khan, who has collaborated extensively with each of them, recently shared intimate details about her personal and professional connections with these cinematic legends during a candid podcast appearance.
The Distance with Aamir Khan
Farah Khan revealed that among the three Khans, she has the least personal closeness with Aamir Khan. "Salman had come before Shah Rukh Khan, and Aamir is someone I am least close to because he was already a star when I worked on Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar," Farah explained on Ranveer Allahbadia's podcast.
She elaborated that despite Aamir Khan teaching her the fundamentals of filmmaking on set, their relationship never evolved beyond professional boundaries. "He would teach me the basics on the film set. But somehow, I never became close to him," Farah stated, highlighting how their connection remained strictly work-oriented from the beginning.
Lifelong Bond with Salman Khan
In contrast, Farah Khan shares a deep, enduring friendship with Salman Khan that dates back to their childhood. She recounted a humorous anecdote from his debut film 'Maine Pyar Kiya': "Salman himself has said this publicly. I had gone to teach him dance during Maine Pyar Kiya, but I ran away after an hour," Farah shared with laughter.
Despite their contrasting lifestyles, their bond has remained strong through the years. "I do go to Salman's house sometimes. But if you talk about hanging out, his idea of hanging out is very different from mine. I want to sleep by 9:30 or 10 at night, while he likes to hang out at 2 in the morning. But we did meet recently at my birthday party," she described.
Farah emphasized that Salman Khan has maintained his authentic personality through all his personal and professional challenges. "He has been the same. He has a very dry sense of humour. If you get it, he is extremely funny. Because he has gone through so much in life, his humour is very deadpan — very sarcastic and dry. But from within, he is a very soft person," she revealed.
Salman Khan's Professional Ethic and Controversies
Addressing common perceptions about Salman Khan, Farah Khan dismissed the notion that controversies have ever driven him into seclusion. "Salman doesn't hide. He blocks out the controversy and continues doing his work," she asserted.
She also clarified persistent rumors about his punctuality on film sets. "People say he used to be late on set, but many actors in those days were late," Farah explained. "Having said that, they would still stay until the work was finished. They would never say, 'Please let me go after four hours.' There isn't a single film that has been shelved because of him. He simply puts on blinders and keeps working."
The Special Connection with Shah Rukh Khan
While the podcast conversation focused more on Salman and Aamir Khan, Farah Khan has previously spoken extensively about her close creative partnership with Shah Rukh Khan. Their collaboration spans numerous blockbuster films where Farah served as choreographer before directing him in 'Main Hoon Na' and 'Happy New Year.'
The dynamics between Farah Khan and the three Khans reflect the evolving relationships within Bollywood's inner circles, where professional collaborations sometimes blossom into lifelong friendships, while others remain strictly business relationships despite decades in the same industry.
